| 11102 | Racer | games | -1 | Re: Wrong! | That's all a matter of the point of view, I think for Windows and Mac users the "free beer" thing is what they would call "free". He doesn't mention GPL, so I would claim that this formulation is for most of the users the right choice (I assume there are much less Linux than Windows users out there...:-( ) I also see your point, but it's the way like we (Linux users) look at the world, and not the way like the majority does. bye, berniw. | 2003-05-06 10:24:33 | 11077 |

I've got the nvidia drivers installed and working (I can play UT2k3). Here are possibly revelent specs. Red Hat 8 GeForce 3 with nvidia drivers Fluxbox window manager | 2003-05-06 10:34:12 | 0 |

| 11105 | Racer | games | 3 | Re: Wrong! | Hi,<p> <i>"However, this game is deceptively trying to masquerade as "open source" and "free" software when it is clearly not "free" (as in GPL or similar license). That is the objection."</i><p> I'm afraid I'm not with you. Extract from Ruud's site: <blockquote><i>"There have been misunderstandings about the source code in the past time. This project is NOT OpenSource. The source code IS and will REMAIN for the oncoming time copyright (c) of Ruud van Gaal. The source code is provided for interested people, and to build platform-specific versions (for Linux mainly) in case the provided binaries don't work."</i></blockquote>Where's the "deception"?<br><br> <i>"If you look at the top of the page you will also see the phrase "License: free"."</i><p> It's been an open wound for a long time now that happypenguin.org's database currently does not differentiate between "<a href="http://www.greenparrot.com/gcoupon.html">free beer</a>" and "<a href="http://www.fsf.org/licenses/license-list.html#GPLCompatibleLicenses">GPL-compatible free license</a>". This is not Ruud's mistake. Bob once started to implement a more precise license-type approach but didn't yet finish it due to time-constraints.<p> Cheers,<br> nilfilter | 2003-05-06 11:06:24 | 11077 |
| 11106 | Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory | games | -1 | Re: Blank Main server browser | Same for me with both the Windows and Linux versions. Must be something to do with the server that the game servers register with. I have been playing the game online, then suddenly no servers show up for days now. | 2003-05-06 13:56:27 | 11026 |

They need a publisher like LGP :-)) Well, http://garagegames.com sounds similar to Garage Developers ( http://www.garagedeveloperinternational.com/ ), who weren't very friendly to http://www.polyfrag.com/ . At first I was suspicious but there seem to be no relations :-) Schugy | 2003-05-06 14:29:21 | 0 |
| 11111 | Pingus | games | -1 | Huh? | I'm sorry, but I just don't understand: The description says that Pingus is for Win32, but it doesn't work on Windows (please don't bash me about this; Windows users have feelings too!) This is not a complaint in any form, just a query, so don't get all riled up. | 2003-05-06 15:23:43 | 0 |

| 11116 | Underworld Adventures | games | 6651 | Still in early development, but cool... | This this was kind of a bear to compile in Linux, and I ended up symlinking header files all over the place to get it to build. However, once I managed to build it and got it to work, it is pretty neat. You can't do much except walk around but it looks good and seems pretty close to the original. I'm looking forward to this as I never managed to finish my original game, (yes I actually have the disks kicking around here somewhere :-) This is still a pretty fun little game. I give the effort one star at this point, but it will be a five when it is finished. | 2003-05-06 20:18:38 | 0 |
