TORCS games -1 Re: Huh? The screenshot shows some "Damned" and "berniw" robots racing on g-track-3. You need to have installed the Patwo Design rally car pack, the berniw robot and the tracks. If you want a "full" torcs version it's best to download all files for your distribution. What freeglut conserns there are already binary packages available for some distros. 2003-05-05 02:02:14 11037
noeGNUd games -1 Re: i wanna opengl 3d display for ADOM There are sources for Quake. Now it's the turn to eat your spleen. 2003-05-05 02:21:32 11033
Racer games 5515 nice but... looks great but:<br> - linux installation not so good (loki installer?)<br> - no sound<br> - lot of errors (cars falling outside track, random freezes etc...) 2003-05-05 03:26:36 0
TORCS games -1 Re: Huh? Just a suggestion to the developers: perhaps you could use SDL in Torcs instead of glut/freeglut, people would be more familiar with it. 2003-05-05 03:57:08 11037
TORCS games -1 Great game indeed I've played Torcs with my ATI Radeon (with open source drivers) and it works quite well, although cars have some nasty graphics glitches sometimes. <br><br> Anyway, I've enjoyed the game very much and here are my impressions: <br><br> What's good:<br> - I've found no bugs in the gameplay yet<br> - the physics seem to be quite good and advanced and thus the game is just fun to play<br> - polished menu system with full input/driver/etc. configurations<br> - different race modes actually work and it is quite fun to take a quick race against some AI players<br> - AI players are quite good (or I'm quite a bad player)<br> - there are lots of different cars and tracks<br> - the game uses XML format extensively :)<br> - last but not least: the game is under GPL, the source code is polished, there's very useful documentation, the web-site is great, the developers are user friendly, etc.<br> <br><br> Some enhancements I would like to see in the future:<br> - the cars look somewhat blurry and not so atractive (when you compare them to other racing games, like Racer, you see there's a big difference)<br> - a multiplayer mode (networked) would be fun<br> - an analog cluthc would be nice (so one could use a racing wheel with an analog clutch to gain more realism)<br> - I would like to see this in Debian but as there already are debian packages this is not so relevant at the moment<br> <br> I would give this game 4 to 5 stars, but unfortunately I'm not registered to be able to vote. 2003-05-05 04:17:55 0

TORCS games -1 Re: Great game indeed What kind of graphic glitches do you experience? A known case is if you run some graphics cards with 16 bbp the z-buffer resolution can be (depends on your board and driver) also 16 bpp , and that is for the camera frustums not sufficient. What you experience with 16 bit z-buffer is that you can see the wheels flickering trough the cars body and that the cars swap inside out. 2003-05-05 04:53:46 11053
Racer games -1 Not all is gold that shines. Time to forget this game. Try Torcs (http://torcs.sourceforge.net/ and http://happypenguin.org/show?TORCS) instead. 2003-05-05 04:58:04 0
NVIDIA Linux Display Driver games -1 Re: "License: free" ??? Read http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/philosophy.html and you understand why some people complain. 2003-05-05 05:06:03 10930
TORCS games -1 Re: Great game indeed Sorry, my post was quite misleading here: the graphic glitches are due to the drivers for my ATI Radeon, not due to Torcs. You see, I'm using the open source (DRI) drivers for my Radeon and thus not all OpenGL games work so well. Luckily there are no big problems with Torcs with these drivers. I'm just happy I don't need proprietary NVidia drivers (and NVidia card) to play this cool game :) 2003-05-05 05:13:54 11055
