| 10880 | Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory | games | -1 | Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory | Kinda nice game. Funny, and cooperative teamplay is necesary. Under tribes2 in term of team gameplay I'd say though. The game crashed often and even made my box reboot once. | 2003-04-29 12:45:32 | 0 |
| 10881 | NVIDIA Linux Display Driver | games | -1 | Re: "License: free" ??? | Yes, but how do you think anyone can develop free drivers for NVidia cards since NVidia refuses to give out any information about their hardware? Go, ATI! | 2003-04-29 13:34:04 | 10867 |
| 10883 | pydance | games | 506 | Not much fun for myself | I used the Debian packages of pyddr 0.6.1. Music wasn't all that exciting, graphic looked relativly simple and I missed a way to configure the keys (IJKL are spread about my whole dvorak layout). With some more colors, some more effects, some exciting music and a dance-mat it might be fun, but without all that it simply provided not much motivation for me to play it. [This review was written after ~3mins of gameplay, so I might have missed something...] | 2003-04-29 14:16:45 | 0 |
| 10884 | JJFFE - Frontier 2 for Linux | games | 6651 | This game is awesome | I finally got the developmental SDL version working. I even set up a 1600x1000 screen mode for X so that it can run fullscreen. This is cool, I definately plan to send David Braben his 5GBP for the shareware registration. Finally I can play this classic that I always heard about and never got to try and it is pretty cool, and quite hard. I love the tail view as you are blasting off from a planet and some of the views from the external camera are really nifty. | 2003-04-29 15:16:05 | 0 |
| 10885 | TORCS | games | -1 | Great game! | There's lots of new features since the last version I tried (1.1.0, IIRC). Keyboard control is cool; now I was able to test the 1.2.1 version with my laptop. Tracks look really cool but the cars could perhaps look better (I mean something like Racer). Anyway, the simulation seems to work flawlessly and I just can't wait for a new version. I would rate the game 5 stars. Keep up the good work! | 2003-04-29 15:21:08 | 0 |
| 10888 | NVIDIA Linux Display Driver | games | -1 | Nothing wrong with closed source | The current NVidia drivers will probably outlive your current Nvidia AGP card for performance. In the future for simple desktop tasks, the XF 'nv' driver will do. Your card won't be any good for games by then - it will be obsolete very soon.

In a year or two if NVidia drop GNU/Linux (and I seriously doubt it), then buy another brand. Simple huh? The "what if"'s are soo irrelevant when computer hardware is obsolete in a matter of 18 months.

Currently manufacturers drives are mostly closed-source. That is their priviledge. If you don't like it, then stick with your ATI card without a decent 3D accelerated driver. I'll get on with my Nvidia gaming while you bunch of old ladies keep whining. | 2003-04-29 18:14:50 | 10852 |
| 10889 | GL-117 | games | -1 | Re: Written in C++, *hurl* | Let's see the benchmarks for 3D H/W accelerated code. If there really is a big difference in benchies between C/C++, then I'll be convinced. "Show me the money". | 2003-04-29 18:19:27 | 10873 |
