Unreal Tournament 2003 games -1 Yes, vengeance will be ours That is a great assumption: Newbies are Geeks-In-Training! :-) 2003-04-29 10:54:15 8507
Eternal Lands games 7899 Re: Hardware Acceleration I tried it on windows, and the latest nvidia drivers are installed. 2003-04-29 10:55:46 10824
Unreal Tournament 2003 games -1 Re: gentoo live Pentium Pro architecture is simply Pentium with slightly different timing AND one extra assembly language command.<p> Technically, it should run on the AMD K6-?, but it doesn't because we all know nobody is perfect. I am a K6-3 owner and am waiting for Epic to remove Head from Ass: make your binaries more modular with external optimizations for differing architectures. Maybe we'll see UT2003 on a non-X86, such as Alpha or PPC or Sparc or MIPS, if they took End-Users' advice. 2003-04-29 10:59:57 6635
NVIDIA Linux Display Driver games -1 Re: "License: free" ??? You know very well that the source code must be available to fit the common software definition of 'free'. <br> If you want to mean free of charge, then yes, I assume they are free of charge.<br> But the source code is not available and we are all leashed to Nvidia's heel as a result. 2003-04-29 11:00:59 10854
GL-117 games -1 Re: Written in C++, *hurl* If <em>arbitrarily</em> much performance could be bought cheaply, hardware manufacturers would not be spending their billions on R&D. <p> Having said that, &ldquo;C++ on modern hardware ought to be fast enough for anyone.&rdquo; But you still have to decide whether the extra layer of abstraction is worth the extra layer of bureaucracy, especially as regards the extra debugging time tracking down those stupid pointers. <p> That's why I agree with the original poster: use C when you need speed, and modern scripting languages&mdash;which do better what C++ was intended to do&mdash;when you don't. But there again, I never even mastered writing <em>syntactically correct</em> C++ code. 2003-04-29 11:20:53 9870
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory games -1 Re: LAG & quake 3 related games I get no lag in q3 or rtcw or any other game for that matter, but this game is different. Somethings messed up. In the server browser I'll choose a server with a ping of 1.. I'll really have about 100 ping which is about right. The problem is everything lags incredibly. It doesn't look that harsh on the lagometer, but it's very unplayable. The graphics update fine.. It's definitely a network issue. They need to fix whatever it is that they broke in the protocol for this game. It also kind of sucks that you can't control the tank more than just the gun. We need some good multiplayer FPSs with vehicles! 2003-04-29 11:30:11 10833
Eternal Lands games -1 Re: Hardware Acceleration Did you get any messages that said it can't find any 3D acceleration? try starting the game, then press F1, to go to the console, and then type: glinfo If it says something like Microsoft, in the vendor field, it means that, for some reason, the game can't get hardware acceleration. maybe you have 2 monitors, or something? 2003-04-29 11:41:36 10870
Eternal Lands games -1 Re: Eternal Lands We will try our very best to make the system that way so if you don't pay anything, you will not get an unfair advantage. For example, having a house, in the game, is not that a big advantage, more like a thing to show off to others. Or, if you want to start a clan, and have a clan logo, and have a clan map, then you have to pay. You can play very well without having a clan, tho. 2003-04-29 11:43:22 10851
NVIDIA Linux Display Driver games -1 Re: Hmm Overscan TV-Out on NVidia is supported by a very good and pretty stable open-source soft called nvtv, even more flexible and powerfull than equivalent Windows ones. 2003-04-29 12:37:07 10836
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory games -1 Re: LAG & quake 3 related games lags get horrible when theres more than around 8 per team. 2003-04-29 12:42:47 10874
