Pingus games 506 Re: Just what I needed! There are some other people who are working on a Worms clone and looking at the current CVS it is looking pretty good. It might take some month before the first public release, but I think it will be well worth it. No names yet, because authors doesn't seem to want it to be spread out into the general public yet. 2003-04-18 05:17:16 10459
PlaneShift games -1 Re: Issues with MDK Cooker and Gentoo 1. :] ...got it kinda solved you need to install (emerge in my case) crystalspace, then it works ...well, with me, at least up until when it would go to the skinning section ...there i get segfaulted :( 2003-04-18 06:45:01 10450
FreeLords games -1 Re: Linux build Finally I have succesfully compiled an RPM package of freelords-0.2.2. If you want to download it go to http://crypton.ghs.hu/csepi , the site is in hungarian but you can surely identify the package and the necessary libsigc++-1.2.4 to download. It was a bit tricky to compile, feel free to drop a feedback to vakvarju@spektrum-3d.hu. At least it works fine on my SuSE 8.1... VV 2003-04-18 07:32:04 10456
Ultimate Stunts games -1 Stunts may be coming back? I spent far, far too many hours playing the original game. You're making a game based on it? There is a god. 2003-04-18 07:56:22 0
PlaneShift games -1 Re: Planeshift License well, as someone pointed elsewhere, the binary they provide for linux is a violation to the GPL since there is no mention of it, no link to the sources, nothing, so... :) 2003-04-18 08:09:07 10396
Cedega (WineX) games 506 Re: Bad bad bad ethics The FSF isn't about games and especially not about non-free ones. It makes no difference to them if you play non-free games in WineX or not, you shouldn't play them at all.

And I cleary doubt that WineX will stop native ports in the long run. Since WineX will bring gamers to GNU/Linux it might actually help to bring more native ports.

Without Wine or WineX GNU/Linux is pretty much useless as a gameing OS, with them its still not all that much usefull, but brings a whole lot more (sometimes buggy) games. 2003-04-18 09:36:19 10259
PlaneShift games -1 Re: Planeshift License Besides, if you let some one else use your media for their game, most likely they will still have to create some of their own which you could then use. That's the whole point, dont' reinvent everything. Everybody makes a little part and it's all shared. 2003-04-18 09:37:36 10429
DOSbox games -1 Re: Why? Dosemu is great for non-game applications, but Dosbox is just plain the better choice for Dos games of any kind in the future. Sorry if this disappoints you, but I will favour Dosbox over Dosemu. Dosemu is extremely tricky to convice to work with several games, and changing configuration for the sake of a single game OVER and over again? Not with me. 2003-04-18 09:40:04 8009
Tower Toppler games 506 Not bad. Well, I didn't like that game on a C64, so I don't like this one much either. I prefer jump'n runs with a little bit more freedom and controll over your sprite. Also don't really like how Fire+Left/Right causes a jump, keeping that seperate might be better. Collision detection also seems to be a bit unpreciese, the little sprites always gets hit before he really got hit, just a handfull pixel, but noticable. There are also quite a few unfair elements, like blocks that disappear without any change to see or avoid that, without making the error once and then remembering it or going through the tower, seeing one object coming from the right and having no way to turn around. The main sprite look a bit 320x200 and scaled up, something it a bit might be a good thing, beside that gfx is ok, but nothing super fancy. All in all a good clone of a bad game IMHO. 2003-04-18 10:18:06 0
Cedega (WineX) games 506 Re: Help prevent native ports! As far as I know they never reached the 20'000 users border, they are probally somewhat around 3'000. 2003-04-18 10:36:48 10253
