Hellcarrier | games | -1 | Re: Licensing? | GPL means anyone can do as they wish with the code, so long as their derivatives comply with GPL also. Commercial or otherwise. | 2003-04-14 23:48:34 | 10291
FreeCraft | games | 7128 | Aaargh! | I lost nearly 2 days! <p> But finally I've killed the bastards. Very nice game. Are there any levels or campaigns to download, because I've never bought WarCraft and I won't. | 2003-04-15 01:01:10 | 0
Advanced Strategic Command | games | 7128 | 3 Stars? | It deservers at least 4 Stars, so let's boost it up. | 2003-04-15 01:03:15 | 0
Trackballs | games | -1 | RAM issues? | It seems that many of us are experiencing RAM issues on this game. Yet others are not. I am beginning to think it could be driver or library related (ie: better defining of dependancies needed).<BR><BR> Perhaps those who have problems could <a href="mailto:trackballs-development@lists.sourceforge.net">email</a> the trackballs team and tell them what dist, graphics card, drivers, version of X, lirbaries, etc you are using. This will make the problems easier to replicate.<BR><BR> -spongebob- | 2003-04-15 02:57:29 | 0
PoopMUp | games | -1 | PoopMUp | When I first read about this, I wondered if anyone else was going to bring up good old Potty Pigeon for the Commodore 64, and indeed someone else did. I had to laugh when I saw this... Potty Pigeon in 3D. For the record, though, even though everyone knew (from the title alone) that in Potty Pigeon you were supposed to poop on cars and stuff, the instruction book for the game called it "dropping eggs". | 2003-04-15 03:56:59 | 0
PlaneShift | games | -1 | Re: Some additional info | What I don't understand is why you people demand that everything these people do be completely free for you to redistribute. Free software is important because you're not bound to a particular vendor for the things you need to do, you're not bound to a vendor's product to create your work or art. I create a document, such as a resume, I need to be able to send it to other people, and they need to be able to view it. Is it reasonable to expect everyone I send my resume to to have a copy of whatever proprietary document viewer I created my resume in? It makes perfect sense for this viewer to be free, because it ensures that someone will always be able to open my document. What do you lose from the game not having free artwork? Nothing. You people need to quit giving these guys flak for porting to our platform. Let them create their work for our platform. Quit punishing them for what they haven't done (which is quite unreasonable in my eyes) and commend them for what they have done. If they make the artwork free, that's really awesome, but if they don't, it's ok because they shouldn't be obligated to do so. This game is for entertainment value, it is not necessary to live or to work. It is completely reasonable for them to not make the artwork free. | 2003-04-15 09:20:31 | 5770
Virtual GameBoy Advance | games | -1 | *Ahem*... | <p>I would just like to know why the screenshot comes from... <em>VisualBoy Advance</em> ? ! [check for yourself : <a href="http://happypenguin.org/images/virtualgameboy.jpg">http://happypenguin.org/images/virtualgameboy.jpg</a>]</p> <p>BTW, « License: free » is misleading, since the software is closed-source. I would rather like the license information to be more detailed for each game or application (<em>i.e.</em>, free software (GPL), free software (BSD), proprietary (freeware), proprietary (shareware), proprietary (commercial), and so on). But I think the forums are a better place for such a proposal...</p> | 2003-04-15 10:10:19 | 0
Hellcarrier | games | -1 | Re: Hellcarrier | It seems you made a typo. The right URI for ADIME is <a href="http://adime.sourceforge.net/">http://adime.sourceforge.net/</a>. This is for those too much in a hurry to call Google to the rescue, of course :-) | 2003-04-15 10:21:06 | 10303
PlaneShift | games | -1 | Re: Grumble... | I guess it's good you don't argue here, because it's pretty clear you have no clue what you're talking about. Might as well embarrassing yourself any further. | 2003-04-15 11:20:14 | 5764
