10168 Neverwinter Nights Client games -1 Re: The game is slow, as slow as Mesa! Thanks whoever you are :)
Putting the colour depth up to 24bit made it run very smoothly.
Only problem now is that games such as halflife in wine will not run because they need 16bit... oh well it's only a minor issue I guess. 2003-04-08 06:10:24 10161
10169 Duke Nukem 3d games -1 Duke Nukem 3d my experiences: No logo at the start, greenish screen goes to white, explosions are heard and after that screen goes to black... i have managed to launch into the game, but screen remains to be black, nothing appears on the screen except for numbers for weapons. i can hear sounds, but that's it.
[seva@krait duke3d]$ rpm -qa | grep SDL
SDL_image-devel-1.2.2-5
SDL-devel-1.2.5-3
SDL_mixer-1.2.4-7
SDL_mixer-devel-1.2.4-7
SDL_net-1.2.4-5
SDL_image-1.2.2-5
SDL-1.2.5-3
SDL_net-devel-1.2.4-5
config:
ScreenMode=1
ScreenWidth=640
ScreenHeight=480
Anyone else with same problems? 2003-04-08 07:03:55 0

10173 WineX Game Manager games 6896 Re: Its Is Free Actually using WineX is not the same thing as ditching Windoze... It's just something like running Windoze under Linux... By doing this you will have all of Windoze's unstability... AND at the same time you will be supporting Windoze game developers by eliminating their reasons to develop cross-platform games... Of course this is quite bad for the Linux game development... But let's just wait and see how the Angry Pixels progresses (let's hope for the best)...

* DK_Skovbaer * 2003-04-08 09:12:08 10148

10175 Neverwinter Nights Client games 5360 Re: Neverwinter Nights Client You're exactly right. I think Neverwinter Nights could have really shown how big the Linux gaming market can be, as it would have been the first big non-shooter game to come out as the same time as the Windows version.

The loss of that chance is what really bothers me. I don't give a damn if Bioware lies until their mouths stop working - almost all companies these days stretch the truth at the very least, and many do downright lie. But a big chance like that to show how viable Linux is as a gaming platform may not come again. 2003-04-08 12:37:36 9950
10176 DIE games 6896 Re: Great game, but... Well... The damn DevIL package is still missing the ilu_region.h file... I don't get it...

* DK_Skovbaer * 2003-04-08 13:53:15 10111
10177 DIE games 7033 /me rubs his thighs This is really looking good. Personally, I think the handling is a lot better than in the prototype, and the camera movement definatly seems better. This still isn't a game yet, but it's looking pretty promising.

In fact, I think my main critisism at this point is that the texture on the tyres makes it look as though the wheels aren't turning (at least, not when running at 40-50fps). 2003-04-08 14:19:34 0
