WineX Game Manager games -1 Re: Its Is Free Isn't WineX via CVS lacking all the meaty stuff like Direct3D and Windows Installer stuff? Proprietary stuff? Kinda like a Rewind with a few fixes? I installed WineX via CVS a while back and everything complained about no Direct3D available. 2003-04-07 21:26:15 10089
torcs games -1 Yeee haaaaa!!!! Yeaaah that's what I am talking about! Can't wait for the next release! Highly recommended game. And it's GPL (unlike a certain other racer game that I won't mention here).<BR><BR> Get it, play it, write back here! Lets help make this the best racing game out there for Linux! Send in your praise and bug reports so they can continue to improve this awesome piece of software. If you can program or contribute in any other way....<BR><BR> I'm tired of those nethack games, Doom ports, RPG games, card games that give Linux nerd status. Been waiting for a decent racing sim, and this seems the most promising! 2003-04-07 21:36:05 0
Neverwinter Nights Client games -1 Uhm.. UT 2k3... was released the same damn day for linux as it was for windows... and It doesn't care which video card you use as long as it's X11r6.2 compliant and OGL compatible. The readme is a propaganda peice from Epic/InfoGrames/Legend and Digital for NVidia hardware, not to mention the fact that the readme is no different than the readme included on the Ut2k3 windows cd. the fire is that we need a game exclusively for Linux. One that everyone wants to play. That way we ge first rate games after that, people will consider linux a viable Gaming platform. Really, though were just paving the way for Darwin/Aqua. It sux because no matter how much they port to linux, all the source code will work generically with any *nix system. Just a recompile away to work on ELF darwin with x11 enabled Aqua.... damn those snot nosed windows developers grrrr.... get POSIX compliant.... public string signlanguage(String gesture) { if (gesture.equals "the bird")) { return "sucka..."; } else { return "awwwww......"; } } 2003-04-07 23:14:33 9951

Now there's no reason for me to boot to Win98 :)<br><br> Bye,<br><br> Jp 2003-04-08 01:03:38 0
Freeciv games -1 Re: Old but still very chalengeing For people who want an AI that is easier to defeat, I now (with the help of Vallimar) have a patch which makes it possible to handicap the AI (or give the AI an unfair benefit for people who think the AI is a pushover). The patch is <A href=http://www.samiam.org/freeciv/>here</A>. <p> - Sam Trenholme 2003-04-08 02:48:56 7413
Duke Nukem 3d games 1923 Re: Sound and mouse issues About the sound stuff: Have you set "NumBits" to either 8 or 16? That did the trick for me. 2003-04-08 03:54:14 10154
Neverwinter Nights Client games 7637 Re: Neverwinter Nights Client I don't use windows and refuse to buy any games that do not have a linux client. Bioware finally sold me Neverwinter Nights when the linux client was released. Ya know what I don't think I suffered any permanent damage from waiting for this game because of not having a windows box for gaming. I for one, and there maybe more people that are starting to feel the same way, will not give you my money unless it's made for linux. Linux numbers are much harder to judge than windows numbers because many games are ports in which you buy the windows version then download the client(hmm like the game we are discussing here). So the make sure and let the companies know(I bought game X because it runs under linux). How can you judge O/S sales accurately on an O/S that's freely available. I know may people that run linux and haven't bought it. I myself have bought several versions thru the years to help the community but others I know who are newer to linux don't. Well enuf of my rant! 2003-04-08 05:29:27 9954
Neverwinter Nights Client games 7033 Re: Neverwinter Nights Client I don't know about everyone else, but a lack of commercial games was something I was prepared to accept when I moved over to Linux. I knew that few commercial games worked under Linux, and that developers would be sceptical about the nature of the market. Having know all this when I made the desiscion to switch to Linux, I don't see the point in complaining at all. True, having to wait so long for something that was promised to us, is annoying, but the fact that developers are taking more notice of Linux is more than enough to keep me happy. Perhaps I'm just easy to please. <br><br> Do people bitch so much about how long it takes for PC ports of console games to appear? 2003-04-08 05:36:45 9950
