Tom Bombem: Assembly Language Adventure | games | 7755 | Re: Controls tend to lock / drift | it takes some getting used to. That's the way I tend to have game controls work. Otherwise you either have to press "left left left left right right right" which tires out the fingers... Also, in assembler I'm reading stdin for keypresses and thus don't get key-up/key-down events which makes it next to impossible to tell if you are holding a key down or not... It is something I'll look into thought. | 2003-03-28 12:06:41 | 9877

Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: Neverwinter Nights Client | well, it's NOT a GPL game... they're going to make money out of it. It seems to me that every single linux -me as well - user on the globe will buy a copy of it ... so shut the fuck up or at least connect the brain before even think to touch the keybord. | 2003-03-28 12:17:14 | 9872
Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: Radeon Patch available | Unfortunately, Beta 3, which supposedly incorporates this patch, crashes even more rapidly and with less grace (it doesn't even play the sound or return the screen to full resolution) than beta 2 did without the patch, so I guess beta 2 with patch is the "most working" (some garbage on screen, especially in 2d areas, and a bit slow, but mostly playable) version to date for 3dfx. | 2003-03-28 15:59:33 | 9881
Neverwinter Nights Client | games | 4877 | Re: I like it | What's up is that Loki left behind a legacy of very high expectations, and the Linux gaming market isn't mature enough to support that level of developer commitment. And, honestly, I'm not even sure it is possible. I don't know of any company that has done very well porting games to Linux. It is much too easy for Linux people to switch to Windows just for a game or two, so release schedule, pricing, features, and service all have to match Windows or the game won't sell. The number of hard core Linux gamers who refuse to install Windows for gaming, or buy a PS2, is probably in the tens. (I'm more hardcore than most as I do own all of the Loki titles that I found even slightly interesting, and still most of my games are Windows games.) | 2003-03-28 21:04:39 | 9865
FreeCol | games | -1 | Re: Why Java? | That is just Sun's fault, if they choose to port (or just recompile) the runtime to other architectures you won't have that problem. That will probably happen sometime, like with the other VM's they released. Also, that complait is completely beyond the authors' control. | 2003-03-28 21:12:05 | 8171
Vendetta | games | -1 | a pretty cool game | this reminds me a lot of wing commander. the graphics are excellent. unfortunately, it is somewhat difficult to buy the next level ship if you constantly get destroyed by certain players. the most basic ship can is slow, has little armor, has little fire power. you'll be stuck ferrying goods back and forth for a while until you get a certain amount of money where you can buy yourself a better ship. | 2003-03-28 22:29:18 | 0
Neverwinter Nights Client | games | 6314 | I'm addicted | 5/5, there's not much more I can say. There's a long single player campaign, kick-ass graphics, funny dialogs (including funny riddles, I love riddles :-), many additions from the community, ... | 2003-03-29 00:32:34 | 0
