Ok, I'm the programmer and guy who wrote that up on the page, and if I say it's broken, then it is!
The sound functions, input and image loading are particularly horrible. I was sort of waiting to make the code non-embarassing till I released, but what the hey. If you get a SIGSEGV it's because I didn't initialise classhints in win.c
All this is fixed in the latest version, which is to be uploaded Real Soon Now.

Well, looks like I have to be the bad guy here and say that all it does is segfault for me... guess I'll hvae to wait for the next version... It's a shame too, the game looks really nice |

Haven't we seen this before? (i.e. XBill) I have no complaint; I like anything that makes a joke of Windows. The little penguin is a great design as the hero for the game. My advice to the author: put this in an RPM as soon as you get a 'final' release (though nothing in Linux is final); a lot of people are going to love this game. |

A must have. Very relaxing and since you're the creator has unlimited replay value. |

An instant classic. Compiled and ran without a single core dump. That's always the mark of a good game. |

With the help of the author, I managed to stop it from segfaulting on my machine. It's a really cool game, and the graphics are impressive, but it's not really much of a game yet. I think I'll let this one ripen a bit before I rate it. However, if it keeps going the way it is, I think it'll be an excellent game! |

I tried Flight Gear, and with all the toolkits and libraries it requires, it was no surprise that it didn't work on my system.
Sabre earns four stars in my book for great non-accelerated graphics, easy compilation and installation, and an all-round pleasant feel. It would've earned five stars if mouse control worked better (I have no joystick in Linux), and especially if arrow key controls were implemented.
Nevertheless, this game is a MUST for anyone who wants to shoot down some planes while in Linux.
Kudos to the authors of Sabre. :-) |
