| 9609 | Xmame | games | 5676 | Re: Um bug... | I think 0.66.1 is screwed up:-

1. -effect doesn't work anymore; it does weird things like rotate.
2. The X11 compiled version used to create a window with the necessary dimensions for the relevant game i.e. MrDo! is 240x192, but xmame.x11 creates a 640x480 window for everything!
3. The graphics are now scaled to fit the X11 640x480 window, as opposed to proper pixel for pixel dimensions resulting in ugly blurring reminiscent of first generation LCD monitors.
4. The documentation seems to have removed some important information about the format of the xmamerc configuration file, specifically the required entries for the artwork and samples paths.

If I can't get any information on the above issues then I'll have to go back to 0.62.

Regards | 2003-03-19 05:41:13 | 9586 |

| 9613 | Eternal Lands | games | 5676 | A note about comments | Comments can be positive or negative. Nasty comments I don't particularly like, but being a Briton I believe people should be able to say what they think.

Say for example I find a game submitted here is absolutely shite. Should I say it is shite or should I say that it is not something that I find enjoyable? Imagine that everybody who doesn't like a really crap game just says "this game is not something I find enjoyable". There would be no edge to the discussion here, it would sound like we are all drones living in political correctness hell.

Personally if I don't like a game I don't say anything, but if I find something that really annoys me then I would say so. If you see a comment you don't like then use your brain to filter it out. | 2003-03-19 11:14:37 | 9608 |

| 9616 | GL-117 | games | -1 | You art thy one who hath posted crap. | C++ is object-oriented extensions to C.
Thus, the C++ language is the C language plus cruft. Logically, C is more primitive and thus offers higher performance.
This debate was resolved many years ago and the resolution reached was the truth: C programs are smaller, more efficient, equally flexible, compile faster, and the post-compiled application is *always* either equal to or faster; than that of C++. On the other-hand, C++ offers a syntax that *appears* to be more organelled (or organized), which promotes self-hyped ease of maintanability, nevertheless C programs are much more conformant to cross-platform computing.
There you two idiots have it. C has always been and always will be prima faci - the greatest and most productive language in the history of mankind. Remember, C++ and C are only distinguishabe by the skill of the persons that use them and the standards the persons may adhere upon. C++ is more proprietary to C; such is evident, nonetheless C is able to be construed by organization. Microsoft hath maliciously defiled C syntax upon their product VISUAL C and thus is an abomination.
Kudos :) | 2003-03-19 11:57:53 | 8969 |
| 9617 | Eternal Lands | games | -1 | Re: A note about comments | I don't mind bad comments, in fact I appreciate any suggestion, bug report, etc. However, posting BS about the game (like it crashes a lot, etc.), and complaining about the license in 6 different 'threads' is a little different, it means trolling. And I am sure it is the same person who did it. | 2003-03-19 12:41:18 | 9613 |
| 9626 | Race | games | 3220 | Re: No sound | There are no sound effects in the race-0.9 series. This is because many people (including me) found the sound effects in race-0.7 to be mostly just annoying, so i thought that adding sound support (aftert the rewrite) to 0.9 would be pretty much pointless without better sound samples. (And there was a whole lot of other stuff to do too)
If somebody would like to help by providing high quality loopable engine sounds, that'd be very much appriciated, and a 1.0 version would be one step closer.
--
Harry Storbacka | 2003-03-19 13:16:20 | 9474 |
