Liero-AI games -1 Re: Sweet. There was also NiL (http://nil.sourceforge.net/), but it seems quite dead for a couple of years. Anyway, Liero-AI is really nice and fun. But has someone tried to compile it from source? What pascal compiler must be used? 2003-02-21 04:18:05 8985
3459 news 6457 question about sample of source It should be 2048 bytes of source, but can we use any datafiles (I guess no)? I hope using SDL/OpenGL is permitted? 2003-02-21 04:31:20 0
3459 news 7617 Cool This could be a lot of fun. I've applied and here's hoping. It would be enjoyable working with a team dedicated to making the game working. Especially if that team is keen and intelligent. <P> How's the code going to be worked on, CVS? Also, who will be responsible for the website code? I'd probably enjoy doing that too :) Also, how much resources will be made available from the LGP crew, including expertise, equipment, and hosting? Or is that yet to be decided? 2003-02-21 05:23:19 0

3459 news 5676 Re: question about sample of source Well it says up to 2048 bytes of source code, I guess because they want to see your coding style and ability, so maybe you should concentrate on doing something non-graphics based, unless you do it in code i.e. wireframe 3D with simple fills. <br><br> To be honest I am expecting they would prefer people fluent in 3D game programming as who does anything else nowadays commercially? So perhaps it would be best to create a mini 3D demo 'that does something cool' :D That would probably get you the most attention. <br><br> The only games I've bought in the last couple of years that weren't 3D were Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader by Firefly Studios (excluding some old Lucasarts classics I bought to play under SCUMMVM), so I would say that if you want to write commercial 2D games you might want to consider the embedded market, PDAs and mobile phones. 2003-02-21 05:30:27 9001
3459 news 7618 sounds great!! I think the whole idea is awesome! A unique game produced for linux. When It's released I will be sure to buy a copy, and if I like it, I may buy three or four ;) <br><br> I hope everything works out for the development group and that the game is a massive success, if it is, it could really breath life into the linux gaming scene. 2003-02-21 05:39:10 0
3459 news -1 wondering if there will be a cool, native soccer / football manager someday out for the gamers. something like the old DSF soccer manager or in that way. 2003-02-21 06:10:09 0
3459 news 5401 Re: sounds great!! Just in case someone misses it :-)<br> "The game must run on the Linux platform, but this does NOT exclude other platforms. The development team is strongly advised to consider cross-platform development, as each platform increases revenue. This is purely at the decision of the development team. LGP will market the game wherever we can for any platform it runs on." 2003-02-21 07:02:05 9005
3459 news 7617 Re: sounds great!! Good thing too, not much chance of revenue for a single platform project. Woe be to the programmer who is assigned the windows port :) I love developing in Linux. Using a tool like SDL+OpenGL and a few other cross platform libraries should be too hard, so long as it's designed that way from the beginning. 2003-02-21 07:05:21 9007
