8880 T1 Car Racing Simulation games 6964 Re: Cool Thank you! Don't worry, I'm not planning to make it a real simulation, at least not in the standard mode :-). In future, as soon as we resolve the incompatibilities that arose shortly before I made this announcement, you'll be able to activate "Vamos" model if you want accurate physics. I'm planning on continuing with the arcade mode.

Other cars, network play, and multiple player support are planed, but probably not coming any time soon. I still have a lot to do with the basic functionality.

Cheers, alex. 2003-02-15 12:48:27 8872
8881 A Tale in the Desert games 7589 Client problems I have fixed several client issues today... (Ah the fun and PAIN of Linux commercial game development...) Try running the launcher again. Also make certain that your drivers are setup properly. Out of about 15 people having issues that stopped into the irc channel (irc.stratics.com #atitd-linux) 90% where people with broken drivers OR this !@#$%^ GCC 2.95 -> GCC 3.x ABI change problem. (The ABI change requires the person to install compatability libraries from thier vendor to make it work.) 2003-02-15 14:39:59 0
8882 A Tale in the Desert games 2 Re: Client problems FWIW, the client runs great for me. Thanks, Pluribus!
Is there any way to run in a resolution higher than the default? 2003-02-15 14:43:50 8881
8883 T1 Car Racing Simulation games -1 Static binary I am running Debian unstable and I get an instant segmentation fault when executing the binary. 2003-02-15 15:07:55 0
8884 A Tale in the Desert games 7589 Re: Client problems It runs at the same "resolution" as your desktop, however if the 800x600 window is too small it IS resizable. or for those that prefer, Fullscreen is available (although some window manager seem to prevent it) ALT-Enter or ALT-F12 are the fullscreen toggles 2003-02-15 15:17:47 8882
8885 Celestia games -1 Get accelerated videodrivers! The program is awesome, keep in mind that it's free! But I strongly suggest to get an NVidia Chipset Card and their linux drivers (NVIDIA), then the whole thing roars, and you get awesome textures. On my old ATI Rage Pro it was slow but useable. 2003-02-15 15:33:57 0
8887 Underworld Adventures games -1 Re: It works :-) if i remember right from my DOS gaming days (geez, it's been a long long time... UW1 came in a box set of four 1.44mb floppies; it was a huge game for its day), most of the controls are by left- and right-clicking in the main window, as well as click-and-hold, click-drag and so on. pretty nearly everything on screen should be a click target for one button or the other - that is, if they've copied the controls faithfully; if i were them, i'd add a few improvements when i had the chance...
and i certainly hope they've fixed at least the few most annoying bugs the game shipped with. getting stuck on corners while moving around, for example. animations and loops (such as explosions, splashes of water, etcetera) sometimes "sticking" in the middle. objects transmuting in saved games, to where sometimes you'd find yourself carrying around a "boom" or wearing a "splash". the underworld games were about when ultima games started getting almost unplayably flaky, and the series never did recover technically.
hmm, somewhere i've still got a boxed set running up to Ultima 8 lying around... i wonder if a freeDOS and/or dosemu setup might play some of the less demanding ones... 2003-02-15 17:35:30 6424
8888 A Tale in the Desert games -1 Incorrect "Disk almost full:" message I have yet to encounter one serious bug in the game. This is great! My only complaint is that the client insists on believing that my disk is almost full and leaves a permanent warning about this at the top of my screen. In fact, the game is running on a 23GB partition that has almost 5GB free. I'll be surprised if that isn't enough to run the game safely. I suspect the client is checking the amount of free space by percentage or something. Since my disk is 85% used, it MUST be almost full. Not. 2003-02-15 18:38:58 0
8889 A Tale in the Desert games 2 Re: Client problems Ohhh...I didn't even think to try resizing the window before toggling fullscreen. Thanks for the clue. :) 2003-02-15 18:40:12 8884
8890 Kohan: Ahriman's Gift - WineX Edition games -1 Who says it's not native? If it's compiled against winelib, it *is* a genuine ELF native binary. Would you reject a piece of software because it happens to use Qt? winelib is similar -- Just Another library for providing widgets, network functionality (yes, Qt does that!), except that it happens to be pretty darned similar to the win32 API. 2003-02-15 20:58:15 8870
