| 8563 | Marble Blast | games | -1 | Radeon 8500 or better? | Is this _really_ the lowest standard for games now? And does an Radeon8500 really compare to a TNT2? | 2003-02-01 16:23:46 | 0 |
| 8564 | Crystal Space | games | -1 | Re: GNU/Linux Planescape? I HOPE not | From my small experience with the founder and the project in general, I got the vibe that they were interested in restricting more than liberating in terms of artwork, story, and other creative content. Which makes me feel very uncomfortable. Take, for example, the liberty of a player to write his own stories about the planeshift universe. I get the feeling this sort of behaviour will be restricted.
This _would_ have been a great opportunity to demonstrate freedom not just in software, but all creative content - and show how the GPL philosophy of content can encourage greater freedom and growth than any other model. But instead we are going to be restricted anyway.
I suppose the positive thing is that it's not too late for the authors to change the license. The negative is its not too late for them to decide to start charging for royalty fee's, etc, related to their game. | 2003-02-01 16:40:30 | 5405 |
| 8565 | Marble Blast | games | 7544 | Re: Radeon 8500 or better? | The video spec is a bit confusing. We put cards on there that we _knew_ worked, but many others will work too. The game really isn't too demanding on video hardware, although it does require hardware acceleration. Best bet is to download the demo and try it out. | 2003-02-01 17:02:39 | 8563 |
| 8566 | 3391 | news | -1 | Re: Nothing new | think again. nwn will be the first commercial rpg for linux, afaik. and many of us prefer roleplaying over shooting things into bloody pulp with rocket launchers (not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you) | 2003-02-01 20:56:09 | 8538 |
