No bad...the public servers don't do a whole lot yet, but that should change.
Redhat 6 users: make sure that you fix the link to the Makefile to compile the server. (it points to the RH3.0 makefile, you need to point to the RH5.0) To be safe, you should double-check the symlink for the client as well. |

Excellent game!
I've been a mucker for many years now
and am suprised at how well this system
is put together.
The Yiff server by LearFox is most excellent
in it's handling of the sound and system
events... way ta go. :>
The only problems I really had trouble
with in installing a server and the client
was my own ineptitude. :> I've been using
it since the .96 or .97 release.. (not sure) and am jazzed
about their progress...
Can't wait to see the systems set up in the future.
Thanx guys for a great game. :> |

Great Game. Install was a little rough but the excellent step by step instructions on the website help smooth things out. Graphics are very good and motion is fluid. |

Nice attempt at a Warcraft-style game.
I'd love it, except:
1. compiling it is too painful. The extra makefiles barely help.
2. game has a tendency to hang on me after a while.
3. UI is pretty clunky. In particular, the middle mouse button shouldn't be needed (3 button emulation sucks).
A little polish though, and it could be good.

Since first release I have loved it. Why don't I play it? It's mucho too slow. What a shame, seeing all the potential it has. Compare it with the ancient, yet smooth fly8 from eyal (change the gettime call to gettimeofday in the timer loop to see fly8 working on modern un*x)
Sabre definitely needs a GL re-write. Would be a killer game!

The graphics are excellent; the sounds
are, likewise, a good selection.
The installation is moderately clean, but still needs a significant amount of work (along with, preferrably, some packaged versions such as RPMs and DEBs).
The Yiff sound server is difficult to configure and use, and poorly documented, but once set up it does it's job reasonably well.
Definitely one to check out; the problems are not uncommon, and do not prevent it from working well, once installed. |

Reminds me of ShipWars or Netrek on day one. It's a fresh start but too early to tell how it'll turn out.
Easy to configure dynamic customizations
would greatly suit this game. But I'm not sure if it'll present anything unique and original since there are a few games like this one out there already. |

I didn't find it very addicting, the game controlling needs improvement.
It also needs more documentation
on the controls available.
The graphics and the puzzling theme are noteworthy to appreciate! |
