| 8500 | Trackballs | games | 5577 | wow. | <p>this is great. truly great. one of the classics I always liked, and the remake, (what I quickly played and looked) looks to fit to the shoes... </p> <p>only problem are the controls. while mouse is excellent for this, I would love to see some sensitivity-setups inside the game,.. and, ability to play with arrow keys if mouse just isn't working for you .. (I'm running out ot room on top of this paper pile here).. </p> <p> anyways. great game, gonna play more tonight. </p> .b | 2003-01-28 22:09:11 | 0 |
| 8501 | Parsec Demo | games | -1 | why may 2003, why not now? | Why wait until May? You're losing 4 months... why not just Open Source it now? Set up a sourceforge account, GPL the code, and you'll have hundreds of people checking it out. | 2003-01-29 04:13:52 | 0 |

But keep in mind that it's a 19 Mb download.</p> <p>Cheers,</p> DeadFish Man | 2003-01-29 06:16:30 | 7060 |
| 8503 | Parsec Demo | games | -1 | Re: why may 2003, why not now? | Maybe because they want to open a cleaned code, which I respect. You waited all these years for the game, you can wait some months more for the code, can't you? | 2003-01-29 06:26:26 | 8501 |
| 8504 | Heroes of Might and Magic 3 | games | -1 | Re: Heroes of Might and | When you're playing against the computer, it is really better to go with campaigns. Single scenarios are more for multiplayer mode, really, and I got bored with them fairly soon, mostly because it goes just like you said - build a strong hero, kick computer's ass. Campaign mode is much more diverse and elaborate, and the difficulty level is evolving, too. Building one strong hero works *perhaps* for the first scenario of each campaign. Let me say this: I am not a game person. I find most games annoying or boring or both. Yet I own this game for over two years now, and I still keep coming back to it every few weeks. As to automation, you should probably read the manual. There are single keys you need to hit to order a hero to continue following the route and such. Yes, the game allows very little automation, but truth to be told, automation is pointless with good gameplays. In campaign mode, you have more elaborate goals, often less money, have to decide how and when to develop your city (depending on the situation, you might want to develop your cities in different directions). Overall, HMM3 is close to an adventure game than to a strategy in that regard, and it works pretty well when you get used to it and learn to be creative. | 2003-01-29 10:21:00 | 4151 |

| 8506 | Parsec Demo | games | -1 | Egads! (Nice troll) | Who in the holy name of NilFilter and Bobz posted this anti-glide nonsense? <br><br>Glide is an API to access 3Dfx hardware to its optimum. Developers that can access hardware directly will let end-users benefit; at cost of portability. Mesa allows to build ontop of Glide2, yet the point of the Glide API is direct access to hardware. To be accurate, ALL GRAPHICS CHIPSET ENGINEERS SHOULD RELEASE AN API THAT ALLOWS ACCESS TO THEIR HARDWARE. This would allow software libraries to be verry modular and nobody will need wait for the popular graphics libraries to be supported closed source (think of openGL and Direct3D). I use Voodoo2 SLI and it runs Parsec in Glide-rendering faster than openGL rendering. 3Dfx hardware has the benefit of flexibility, in the matter that their hardware and drivers are in essence opensource. If I had to choose between a Trident Xabre, Voodoo4, or Savage4, I would definitly choose the 3Dfx Voodoo4 because it has tons of support in Linux and as long as developers allow disabling of proprietary non-opensource standards (S3TC, vertex and pixel shaders), then I and the many other users may enjoy full (or at-least near-full) capabilities of their hardware.<br><br> Nice troll, but I'm better.
