Tried 0.16 last night, on a PII w/ Voodoo 2 accel and it works very nicely.
Don't try this if you're looking for an actual game, wait for another few weeks for that, I guess.
OTOH Designing tracks directly in C structures was diverting for a few minutes. |

Looks great, even on Win95. Still hard to install and outdated, but still worth it! |

All I get are segfaults. *sigh* and it looks *so* promising too.. |

Sorry to post this here.. but someone needs to update the above links. The UO 4 Linux FAQ and binaries have moved to ftp://ftp.owo.com/pub/uo/client/linux (i typed that from memory, you might want to verify it.)

Unbelievably fun! We have played over tens of thousands of games here, and I'm still waiting for today's Xblast-hour to come. It's so fun cause its rules are simple. You have to develop tactics, speed is not what always wins. This is the most fun one among similar games.
Unfortunately, v2.6 does not work on Solaris 2.6 and XWin32 4.01, though it works fine on Linux and Solaris 7. v2.2 works on all OS's we've tried. Also, you better close the sounds and some tasks on your computer, else the game will go reaaaal slow even on a 10mbps switched LAN. |

I couldn't get the source to compile on my own but in the binary...
Sound works perfectly and the graphics are displayed correctly. However, it seems to have trouble pausing and unpausing and the directional keypad (up, down, left, right) apparently breaks once you enter the game after using it to pick your options (1 player, 2 player, load game from password, etc.) on the main screen of. And of course the binary doesn't have joystick support compiled in :(
And just to be really picky, it doesn't print a newline
at the end of the error message when you try to load a file that doesn't exist. :)
Fix the damn keypad and I'd give it 4 stars but seeing how most games (all?) are unplayable without the directional pad, it gets 2. This is version 1.14 BTW... it might of been fixed later on. Get the binary and try for yourself. |

A great version of the mines game, with a much nicer interface than it's main rivals - the pulldown menu that lets players choose difficulty setting (beginner, intermediate, expert or custom) and question marks on/off is cool, as is the best times feature. The look and feel are nice too. Shame the source isn't available though...
