Surgeon Jim sent in this link to The Impossible Project, which aims to create an open source multi-genre game system. Imagine being able to take your Quake character and wander into someone's SimCity creation...it's an interesting idea. The developers say they're not releasing source until version 1.0 is ready, but there's plenty of information to read if you want to find out more. |

Just when I needed it most: a reminder that the world is truly a strange and wonderful place. Someone please continue development on this! It should become the default Linux process monitor. This is definitely the coolest thing I have seen in months.

Description: This is a modified version of the Doom source code which represents system processes as soldiers. Wounding a soldier re-nices the process, and killing him kill -9's the process.

This is a proof-of-concept only, and needs lots of work before it could be truly useful, but WOW!.

Spotted this at slashdot.
