| 8166 | KartingRace | games | 6977 | Nice Game | Runs great on Debian unstable/3.0
Upgraded my libfmod, tweaked the display settings. Runs reasonably smooth on my PII350@434Mhz, 192 MB RAM,GeForce 440MX 64MB. A real winner if tcp/ip gets there. Quite possible the best "racing game" experience i've had on Linux. | 2003-01-10 20:12:09 | 0 |
| 8168 | XGalaga | games | -1 | This Game Rocks! | The web page for the game really is dead and gone. I got my copy through it being automatically installed on Knoppix.
This game is really, really, really fun. It's true to the original (99%). I wish, though, that there were improvements from the original. Maybe with a "Play Classic" option?
Love this game... | 2003-01-10 21:43:43 | 0 |
| 8169 | 3304 | news | 6327 | Re: Ugh.. | I second this. I want to know. Especially if the likehood of the port is pretty solid. Lets face it, in the mainstream game markets we are hearing about games for months if not years in advance. I'd rather read about what is coming to Linux than hearing about what isn't. | 2003-01-10 22:53:50 | 8160 |
| 8170 | Vega Strike | games | 1010 | Re: To large of a download | I don't see the point in flaming someone just because his opinion differs from yours. The comment section IMHO is a place to express his/her own opinion and if one dislikes a game he/she is free to write it down here.
Besides Grumble explained WHY he feels this way and he didn't start a "win/mac os/<whatever OS> is better than linux" or insulted the coders.
Quality of gfx and sound is always a matter of taste, so why bashing everyone who dares to state that he isn't impressed by it?
Yeah, of course to see ppl who think a certain aspects of a project could be improved helping there would be great...however it is quite unfair and really not very nice to expect ppl first to take part in the development process before expressing their opinion...in fact it is quite cheap because there are A LOT of games I personally cannot get excited about but it is quite impossible to help all of them, so am I not allowed to critize them?
Sorry for this long and maybe off topic posting but I am quite often confronted with fanatic linux users who take every criticism personally and drive ppl off...and I wouldn't be surpirsed if many "normal" computer users (those who mainly see their box as what it is, another tool in their everyday life) came to the conclusion "open source -> close minded"....btw, me myself messes around with tux Os since '95, so no "go back to windows" plz (;
have a nice weekend | 2003-01-11 01:50:58 | 8145 |
| 8171 | FreeCol | games | -1 | Re: Why Java? | The main problem with java 1.4 is that it makes the game absolutely non-portable. It will run on solaris, windows, and linux/intel, but that's it. That means that less than 6% of officially supported linux architectures will support this game. | 2003-01-11 05:44:06 | 7990 |

| 8173 | Project: Starfighter | games | 5360 | Very good, only one issue | The game itself is excellent. Really good work. It's very fun to play.

However, the one problem with this otherwise awesome game is that the menu system appears to be designed with a mouse in mind, yet the mouse barely works if at all. This needs to be fixed. | 2003-01-11 12:45:28 | 0 |
