7931 QuakeForge games -1 Re: QuakeForge Mouse works very well for me, with dga support, mouse wheel, and three buttons. I guess things have been taken care of, but YMMV. 2002-12-28 07:22:47 2133
7932 Advanced Strategic Command games -1 This is my kind of strategy game I really like this kind of turn based strategy game with deterministic combat (no random damage). But for those who has not played Battle Isle (myself included) the documentation is not enough, and to run the tutorial is absolutley essential. Tip; do NOT run the tutorial as a campain in version 1.12.0.0. The AI is on, and you will fail the missions. Instead run each map individually (password "tutorial1" etc) and turn the AI off before starting. Otherwise the tutorials seems to be very good, and this game will probably keep me occupied for quite some time. 2002-12-28 07:47:06 0

7936 Navy Seals: Covert Operations for Quake 3 Arena games 6980 great game The best 3d shooter i've ever played. Perhaps a little bit complicated for noobs to start with, but if you understand how it plays, you won't play any other shooter any more. 2002-12-28 14:35:02 0
7937 Freeciv games 4553 Re: Not as good as people say it is My earlier posts were a bit too pessimistic. Here are some comments about my earlier points.

2. Problems with Isometric mode. Until isometric mode includes a properly isometric map and scrolling, they should just make the default configuration have isometric off and request that those providing binary builds also ship them with isometric disabled by default.
3. The Win32 port's ugliness was presumably due to two factors: GTK 1's general Windows ugliness and not reconfiguring dialog sizes/button text sizes. I hear Freeciv is being ported to GTK 2; GTK 2.2 on Win32 ought to look much nicer, and with some configuration work added to the GTK 2.2 port, freeciv on win32 could look just fine. (The sdl client might help here too, but I haven't really looked at that lately.)
4. AI diplomacy seems to be in the works (check the mailing lists archives for details). 2002-12-28 15:11:50 7386

7939 Trackballs games -1 trackballs Congratulations! This is the first linux game I have been able to download as a binary and just run it. It works!!!! Please share your knowledge of how to create linux (X11) applications that just work without the need for complilation, strange libraries, in depth knowledge of either the linux kernel, or its headers or which Distro it is e.t.c. My system (if you can call it a system!) is Suse 8.0 (with upgrades dec 2002), Athelon 2.4 GHertz processor, 256 Mbytes of RAM. Wacom USB graphire tablet as a mouse, NVIDEA GFORCE graphics card. No sound, is this expected? Ray Willis 2002-12-29 04:20:33 0
7940 Serious Sam: The First Encounter games -1 Woohoo!! Yippee, Serious Sam made it to Linux! It's a good reason to re-install the game and see if I missed some funny secrets last time! Great game ;-) 2002-12-29 08:28:30 0
7941 PoopMUp games -1 Can't compile I have Mandrake Linux 9 and I can only compile to Poopmup.o object file. I used "make", what do I do? 2002-12-29 14:47:01 0
7942 Heretic games -1 non-shareware wads For those of you with the shareware version, have you tried file sharing software (kazaa, edonkey, etc...)? For obvious reasons I cannot say I condone this, but you would be surprised how easily available ANYTHING, even stuff as old as heretic, is. 2002-12-29 15:25:19 0
