| 7710 | Vega Strike | games | 506 | To large of a download | <p>The game itself is ok, even so things like a in-game menu, starting at a base, not in space and other things which would guide the player into the game would be nice, but the biggest show stopper at the moment is the ~70MB download. Seriously this game doesn't look like a 70MB download, but more like a 5 or 10MB download. I would recomment to provide a striped down version of the game, with just the most essential data files, so that people don't have to download 70MB just to see that the game isn't really what they where looking for. </p><p> The spaceship models look pretty cheap, just a handfull of polygons, some more polygons and a bit less env-mapping would help here. The virtual cockpit currently is a bit jerky and completly black if not in sunlight, some smoothness and additional light could help here. </p><p> Using some custom binary format, instead of xml would also be a good way to reduce the size of the game data, even so the most part seems to be taken by more or less crappy textures. </p> | 2002-12-12 15:32:59 | 0 |

I like turn based stategy games, but I dont have much time to play, I hope it doesnt take hundreds and hundreds of hours to complete like the heroes of might and magic games. If its possible to complete the game in less than 50 hrs I'd give it a go... else I'd skip and spend those hours on something else.
