| 7644 | ScummVM | games | 6382 | This is so cool ... | ... I cannot say how cool it is! Just played Indy3 again; also tried Indy4, Dott and The Dig. All of them worked well. Too bad that my version of Loom isn't supported yet; I'd love to play that one again.

With ScummVM around, it doesn't matter much that there are no new Adventures these days! :) | 2002-12-07 12:59:08 | 0 |
| 7645 | 3184 | news | -1 | The light at the end is a dragon | Oh, wonderful. More sound issues. I'd settle for stereo in a first release, then they could release proper OpenAL support for the game when they've sorted all issues. Hell, I got the windoze version, and both times I played it, I ended up listening to a CD instead of the game! | 2002-12-07 13:28:48 | 0 |
| 7646 | Bridge Construction Set | games | 4387 | Extremely addictive |
Graphics - good
Sound - good
Gameplay - excellent
Replayability - ok
Everyone thinks I'm mad when I tell them that building bridges is fun and addictive, but then I sit them down in front of Pontifex 2 and hours later I have to fight to get them off my computer.
You are presented with a series of progressively more difficult bridge building assignments. Each assignment has different distances to span, budgets, available building materials and anchor points on the river banks.
In each assignment, you design the bridge in an easy to use bridge editor and then test it to see if it works. The test is in two parts: first, your bridge is subjected to gravity and all to often your carefully constructed work of art collapses under its own weight, complete with snapping cables and folding girders before sinking into the river. Once your bridge stands up under its own weight, the bridge is tested by driving vehicles over it and ships under it in the case of drawbridges.
The graphics, while not up to the architectural detail of modern first person shooters, are quite engaging and the movement of the bridges collapsing into the river is great.
The sound of groaning girders, snapping cables and splashing water while the bridges collapse is good, but the sounds of vehicles and boats during the tests leaves something to be desired.
The existing levels are somewhat replayable as you attempt to build each bridge better and or cheaper. There is a level editor which can be used to set new challenges. | 2002-12-07 13:30:00 | 0 |

| 7652 | 3184 | news | -1 | Dear nath | Please don't be a prick. The post doesn't say that there is only sound issues left. On the contrary it implies that there are several other areas wainting to be resolved. I know a lot of people are pretty frustrated with Bioware by now but that is no reason to begin dreaming up demands that you know can't be fulfilled at this moment. Many developers won't provide progress information like this exactly because they are affraid the community will misinterpret it like you do here. Please don't screw it up for those of us who like to have just a little insight as to what is going on at Bioware. | 2002-12-07 19:43:37 | 0 |

| 7654 | 3184 | news | 2 | Re: Dear Anonymous | As soon as you resorted to personal insults, you lost any credibility you may have begun with. If you're not able to make your point civilly, you're not worth listening to. Nath said what he believed, and signed his name to his words. Were you that brave? | 2002-12-07 20:39:02 | 7652 |
