| 7516 | Unreal Tournament 2003 | games | 6865 | Re: UT 2003 seg fault under Linux :( | Is this already solved? If not. Do you have your own computername in /etc/hosts ? There was a bug . There is a mailing-list also specially for linux. | 2002-12-01 05:20:08 | 6653 |

| 7519 | 3147 | news | -1 | Re: I just hope you can play it fullscre | Noticed how in all the screenshots, the window is at (0,0) in the top-left corner? They could be pasting the windows screenshots into a kde window. | 2002-12-01 10:50:55 | 7518 |
| 7520 | 3147 | news | -1 | PR policy | You know, I really, really appreciate that they're doing a native Linux port. I know on the day that it's released, they will get my money.

However, I grow more and more unhappy with their public relations policy.
Ok, that the simultaneous release didn't happen probably wasn't their fault. But first the "shortly after", then "fall 2002", both of which are simply untrue - from the updates it's clear that it'll be at least another month.
I understand this is probably their first-ever native Linux port. I'm an indy game designer myself, I know how complex a modern game is and how long even simple tasks can take. Nevertheless, whoever is doing their PR work is not doing his job, because by and large the public is increasingly getting angry, confused and, to be frank, a lot of people think they've been had and it's all vaporware or will take so long that by the time the Linux port arrives, the windos people are reading the first previews of NWN 2, which is a long way for saying we've again been left behind.

I believe the weekly updates should grow more and more detailed over time. For the first two weeks it was enough to read "we're working on this, here's some shots". For people to believe in NWN now, they should really post more details and better views behind the curtain. | 2002-12-01 11:10:02 | 0 |
