Description: ARCHON clone

Changelog:

Fixed a few typos in the manual page.

Fixed a bug that would allow the banshee to return to the board, as the winner, even after it actually lost in battle.

Modified the ground-unit distance-counting on the board. Now it's different than how the original ARCHON has it, but it is more "correct."

Dan has finished replacing the entire light side (original) graphics with his own graphics. Yay!

The configure process now verifies that the find command accepts the "-printf" option. (Without it, "make install" fails.)

Now that there are some animations (in the elementals), I found that creatures would keep animating while blinkling (after getting hit). Fixed this.

Previous version changed the format of the configuration file, and if you had an ~./xarchon from an earlier version, it would die. Now I inserted a version check.

Slightly changed the way exchange behaves, so both creatures erase (row-by-row) the other creature beneath them.

My apologies for the lack of updates recently. Your Uncle Bob's life isn't quite as warm and sparkly as he'd like it to be right now. I've just played catch up and spammed you with lots and lots of updates. Be sure to click on the little man with the pipe at the bottom of the page to see the items that scrolled off (yes, I know a fixed limit of 10 news items per page is dumb. Leave me alone!). Barring a complete emotional breakdown, I should be back to regular updates again. |
Still here. Really. |

Arianne RPG project is preparing for its first code release. The developers' vision of the project is ambitious:

We want to get a complete world where we introduce thousand of persons and machine-drive players, making then to interact an look for adventures to get each time more and more powerfull.

Just like Baldur's Gate, EverQuest, Starcraft and Outcast all together and with the most amazing AI ever seen.

A new engine test release of The Guild is available, with (finally) X11 support and lots of other stuff. The Guild is first-person adventure with raytraced graphics and animations a la Myst. Saw this at Linuxgames.com.

Ratchet sent me the following information about a Linux Team Fortress 2 petition:

"EtherealTF has a TF2 petition setup to try and show Valve/Sierra that there really is a demand for a TF2 port to Linux.

The Games Focus column in this month's print Linux Journal provides a nice overview of Rogue-like games, from NetHack to Crossfire. While we're on the subject of the Linux Journal, let me remind you to vote for your favorite Linux site (remember, it's not Slashdot) in the Reader's Choice Survey.

For the three of you who don't read Slashdot, you might want to know there is an interesting post about Microsoft playing Civ:CTP as a test of Linux's ease of use. They had to call tech support. The comments have been great as well with over fifty +2 comments and quite a few +5. So, what are you waiting for? Go read it. |
