| 7216 | 3074 | news | -1 | Great Idea | Hey.. I *know* this platform has problems. Quick! Put it on all the devel servers! Why does this not seem the brightest of ideas.. | 2002-11-10 12:08:17 | 0 |
| 7217 | Boson | games | -1 | oh my!! | you really need to drop the qt toolkit!! .. dont fit to games. Check out Clanlib or SDL. Otherwise it starts to get intresting! | 2002-11-10 13:25:28 | 0 |
| 7218 | Boson | games | 4512 | Re: oh my!! | Yeah, I agree. It's not just an anti-QT thing in my case, the same applies to all those people who think it's a good idea to make games (or frontends to existing games) using GTK.
These toolkits are meant for things like applications, and aren't really suited to games, but I suppose it's like that saying "To someone who only has a hammer, every problem looks like a nail". Whereas, although I had been a bit hostile to SDL for some time (Oh, yet another cross-platfrom toolkit, whoop-de-doo, and why does it seem to favour BMP files?), I now see that that works out pretty nicely, especially now it's been stable so long. Most of the games using SDL seem to work like a charm.
If it wasn't for that, I'd be really eager to try this, as I really liked Total Annihilation back on Windows. | 2002-11-10 14:44:44 | 7217 |
