Onyx is a space sim which is basically a blend of Wing Commander and Tie Fighter. The source is GPL, the library is LGPL and the binaries have a custom license but the game as a whole will be free. Right now it runs on Linux and Windows, and it's designed for OS X, though I don't have a machine to test or build it on. <p>Onyx has a full dramatic storyline, though very little will be included in the first beta, and is designed for a single player. It also includes skirmishes, races and survival minigames. <p>The beta will be out in the next 7 or 8 days (probably plus a little because I'm always late) and I'm looking for beta testers who don't mind the frustration that goes along with beta testing. Ideally I'd like to hit 15 to 30 testers for each Windows and Linux with some overlap for comparison. A few people have already offered, but there are lots of spots left if anyone wants them. <p>More about the game is available at <a href="http://onyx.jwgames.org">the site</a>, which is a little out of date, but basically accurate.
