| 6974 | GL-117 | games | 4140 | finally, a fun fighter sim | I've been looking for a fighter flight sim that balances realism and fun well, and GL-117 is that game. It could use a slightly better tutorial for players (like me) who aren't very good with flight sims, but with a little playing time you can pick it up, and when you do you'll find yourself hopelessly addicted. | 2002-10-25 20:28:57 | 0 |
| 6975 | Slickworm | games | -1 | slickworm |
The current release is just a prototype, so I won't rate it until there is a game there. I think the idea of a 3D silkworm game is excellent, but suggest the author checks out "Return Fire" for another take on multiplayer 2D Helicopter/buggy action games. Maybe he can incorporate some ideas from that game also.

Constructing this game by bolting together well known components (ODE, SDL/GL and a terrain engine) is a smart idea, and allows interesting work to be accomplished without having to rebuild the wheel in terms of Libraries and components. Parts of the OO design and portability abstractions are masterful C++, but are they all necessary? Doesn't OpenGL/SDL build on Windows?
| 2002-10-25 22:09:22 | 0 |
| 6976 | TuxKart | games | -1 | great game! | This is a great game, lots of fun. Any chance of having network support to play against others? :) | 2002-10-26 02:41:59 | 0 |
| 6977 | Slickworm | games | 6453 | Re: slickworm | I've played Return Fire on your recommendation. It seems fun. Reminds me of Swiv 3D or Stealth Combat. As regards the OpenGL/Direct3D abstraction layer it was probably a mistake to develop it rather than using OpenGL only from the start. It has basically doubled the workload required to write the renderer. On the flip side it seems to be similar to what the Unreal and OGRE engines do. If I was developing another game now I would use SDL/OpenGL only and avoid Direct3D altogether. When I get around to working on the sound I'll use a platform neutral library such as OpenAL only. | 2002-10-26 05:18:41 | 6975 |
| 6978 | 3031 | news | -1 | What? | The mouse wheel is dependent on the same thing in all distributions- a simple few lines in the XF86Config. This is rediculously false. | 2002-10-26 05:43:46 | 0 |
| 6979 | Atlantik | games | -1 | Monopoly in Vice C64-emu | I really like that old game from C64. It has sound already and works great :-) | 2002-10-26 05:59:34 | 0 |
| 6980 | 3031 | news | -1 | Seems to become a highquality client :-) | Option "ButtonNumber" "5" Option "Protocol" "imps/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" I agree, all mice ps/2/usb work with some lines like these. I have mousewheel support in all games like UT2003, SimCity3kU ..... The most serious bugs seem to be fixed now. I especially mean rules and gameplay. It's just your luck to have problems if you buy cames at release date... | 2002-10-26 06:09:07 | 0 |
