| 6784 | QuakeForge | games | -1 | Re: QuakeForge | quakeforge (the game this thing is about) is made to play on hardware gl cards (eg nvidia) you are thinking of the original open source linux quake on idsoftware's ftp or something. just download quakeforge. it should require any special configuring to build for an nvidia card | 2002-10-02 20:07:16 | 3788 |

| 6788 | NiL - NiL Isn't Liero | games | -1 | Kick ass ! | This game is just great ! I am glad to see that you are back on its development. You are talking about the multiplayer game, would it be possible to have a kind of "split screen" game ? Just to play a 2players game on the same machine .... Also : the possessor of an azerty keyboard have to edit the source to rebind the keys for changing weapons (cause of c++). Is there anything that could be done to solve this little problem ? | 6789 | NiL - NiL Isn't Liero | games | -1 | Re: Kick ass ! | I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about -- there IS a splitscreen mode (I wrote it myself); pass local_players=N on the command line. (where 1<=N<=4) The default controls for the second player suck, though, so you'll have to to change them. <p> You can change the controls by editing the configuration file. Unfortunately, keysyms aren't recognized, so you'll have to look up the keycodes, eg in /usr/include/SDL/SDL_keysym.h. (maybe this is what you were referring to) The most recent version also supports USB joysticks such as my $10 gamepads; you might want to use one of those instead of a keyboard for split-screen play. <p> Daniel | 2002-10-03 06:13:02 | 6788 |
| 6790 | QuakeForge | games | -1 | Re: QuakeForge | Just use nq-glx (or sdl x11 etc) instead of qw-client-glx (the first is to network playing the second is for solo). | 2002-10-03 07:45:42 | 3226 |
| 6791 | QuakeForge | games | -1 | wow! It compiles on my dual alpha box! | I can't believe this works on my alpha. If you are having problems compiling make sure you have all the requirements from the docs. Check the output of the configure script for anything that doesn't look right. It's a LONG configure script. For anyone interested, my machine is a dual Alpha Server 5000 from Digital. 2 533mhz EV56 processors and 256 megs ram. It really just runs my NAT, but I've been trying to find a program worthy of it's number crunching power. It runs very smoothly with just software rendering under SDL. I havne't even tried to put a 3D card in this thing, it doesn't have an AGP slot, and I can't use any nVidia cards because the drivers are closed source and I can't recompile them for the alpha. | 2002-10-03 10:22:00 | 0 |
