| 6579 | Chromium B.S.U. | games | -1 | Binaries | For Heaven's sake, not every Linux user is a developer and has a compiler installed... why not provide Linux binaries in addition to the source, with the warning that it may or may not work on your system, and still distribute the source so if someone can't get the binaries to work, and they do have a compiler, they can come back and get the source and have a go at it that way. | 2002-09-15 00:23:43 | 0 |
| 6580 | Tenes Empanadas Graciela | games | -1 | card rules (From Trev) | I really like this game, but: There are some odd card rules, in 0.10. Firstly, it lets you exit your turn, forgetting to pick up your card. This is a harsh penaly. Any card which you are due should be given to you when your turn ends, even if you did not press the button earlier. Second, when you start a turn with 5 cards, standard risk forces you to give in a set. This game lets you play on, and later on relize that you can't pick a new card. Again, maybe a nasty penalty for forgetting? In risk, you can get a players cards on taking him out. I think this game does not do that. The last point could be a game style option. | 2002-09-15 01:02:15 | 0 |
| 6581 | Tenes Empanadas Graciela | games | -1 | suggestions (from Trev) | You can see that I like this game, 2 posts in 1 day. Suggestions: Either on the map, or as a popup, or above the map: Show number of countries held by you. If not "fog" mode, also list number by other players? Show bonusses for continents. I know you have a poll on custom maps, so I'll just add, they had some big maps in RISK 2, which played well. Dice rules. Standard risk has max 2 defending dice. I think this has 3. The 2 dice variant makes attacking faster. Possibly an option? Option to allow larger troop moves, after winning an attack? A "Repeat attack" button, to save selecting the countries again on long attacks. More highlight on countries selected for battle. Feature option: Sea Defence bonus: highest defender dice is used against all attack dice, for sea route. Card play: Allow select on Card, not just small box below card. Fixed turn order option. Risk style start option (choose one country at a time). Battle symbol on border of current war. I'll think of more later, but now back to the game. | 2002-09-15 01:23:50 | 0 |
| 6582 | Frozen Bubble | games | -1 | Wow! | The Debian-packaged version worked flawlessly for me. This game was a jaw-dropper. Slick graphics, funky music, great gameplay. Who said Linux wasn't a viable gaming platform? :-) | 2002-09-15 01:53:09 | 0 |
| 6583 | Hack and Slash Action RPG | games | 6395 | no setting or inventory or chatacter... | This is not an RPG game, this is quite lossy because it has almost none of the elements of an RPG. It has no inventory nor character attributes and it is just plain buggy (& boring) ! It is not an RPG game it is an ACTION game. | 2002-09-15 05:27:40 | 0 |
| 6585 | Chromium B.S.U. | games | 6138 | Re: Binaries | providing binaries is sometimes an option, but remember that: - compiling from source is usually extremely easy, although you may need some pratice. You don't need to be a developer to do it, since most of the times it reduces to a mere ./configure -> make -> become root -> make install (I don't know for Chromium, since I did not even had to compile: read below) - Most distros (debian for sure, but others, too) have binary packages for Chromium. installing them is easy, fast, and you are nearly sure they'll work out of the box. | 2002-09-15 08:51:35 | 6579 |

| 6587 | unreal tournament 2003 | games | 2642 | More of the same, but still a blast |
The core of this game differs little from the original UT - which is not necessarily a bad thing. The graphics and sound are vastly improved, and the new game type (Bombing Run) is a blast. While I got frustrated and bored with the original UT due to various shortcomings, based on this demo, I think UT2K3 will have a longer gameplay life for me. It just feels more solid and more engrossing - and, bottom line, it's a blast to play.

Beat an old lady with a stick and use her cable/DSL modem if you have to, do whatever it takes to get your hands on this demo. And when the full game is released, take similar measures to buy it as well. FPS fans will love this one. | 2002-09-15 15:05:32 | 0 |
