Michael Speck, the author of LBreakout2, rated this procedure to be "well balanced" prior to us publishing it.<br> Personally, I am slightly disappointed that the two contest-related forum posts that covered just about every detail did receive over 2400 hits but not a single reply so it's somewhat late to raise your voice now. | 2002-09-09 06:00:36 | 6526 |

FreeDroid | games | 6077 | Re: Interesting... | My my, there really was a little bug in the code that caused the stuck-in-wall and segfault problem at the same time. It's fixed in cvs now. You might pull the latest code from there or wait for the next release. Now I *did* do at least something before october, but this really bothered me cause normally this game *shouldn't* segfault. **Thanks** for the feedback. I absolutely need that and the more direct, the better. See ya, jp. | 2002-09-09 10:01:35 | 6525
FreeDroid | games | 6077 | Re: Comment on the new (RPG) version | The recharging fields are disabled and only decoration in the RPG version. The reason for this: They would make the game too easy. (Energy loss after takeover however was *not* intended and can be considered a bug in RPG.) Otherwise: Use either the healing skill or the energy capsules (just right click on them or use keys 1-9 if you have placed them in the quick inventory. Sorry that I can't come up with some accurate manual or instructions right now. See ya, jp. | 2002-09-09 10:08:43 | 6510
FreeDroid | games | 6077 | Re: Me Need help | Sorry, there are no more levels beyond 4 or 5, or at least the levels beyond are not very good and therefore no connection to them has been set up. The non-working lift shouldn't be there either. The levels below are also not filled with many waypoints and waypoint connections and can't be filled with too many droids because of that. I'm currently all alone for coding, (part of graphics: You see this terrific sword in the tux hand :) ) and documentation and level design. If you would like to try out the level editor a bit, the controls for the level editor are still pretty accurate in the (otherwise outdated) manual on the home page. Sorry. | 6539 | FreeDroid | games | 6077 | Re: Comment on the new (RPG) version | The crashes on the door, perhaps that was a southward pointing door? That was the same bug mentioned above. Sorry, now it's fixed in cvs. As for the levels turning grey after the last bot was killed, that's for power saving purposes: They shut off the light automatically when none of their bots on the level died. Well, even MS bots are smart enough to use APM after all :) Thanks for the feedback. See ya, jp. | 2002-09-09 10:20:41 | 6509
FreeDroid | games | 6077 | Re: Interesting... | As for how to switch to takeover mode, the right mouse button should be the most convenient way. Holding it pressed (while the takeover skill is still selected from the skills menu) should keep you in takeover mode. Then you only need to touch your intended target. I really didn't try it for some time now since I was all stuck with the networking code, something I have never tried before. See ya, jp. | 2002-09-09 11:22:54 | 6525

2888 | news | -1 | Re: Hopefuly the new theme will be compl | By fully realized I was mostly looking for an integrated design. AbsoluteB had that with the frame, but by keeping the original bonus blocks I thought it detracted from the otherwise great style changes. I realize that Michael didn't require this, but as a design ideal it really is necessary when a theme significantly departs from the given design. <p>Because Oz was really a cosmetic improvement on Michael's original theme (including integration with the Default backgrounds), the old bonus images worked well. With AbsoluteE there was a distracting discontinuity that made it feel incomplete even though it met the requirements. I don't mean to fault Jurgen on this at all, and I think the game would look fantastic if she completed (imho) the theme overhaul. <p>As for Moire, I stopped playing with it once I could no longer see the paddle. It was well-designed visually, but had playability problems. This was a concern with Combustion as well if there was any glare on the monitor, since it was such a dark grey, but in the middle of the night with all the lights out it was a very appropriate theme. (Combustion really is my favorite, but not good as a default theme.) <p>I apologize for having come late to the contest (having only downloaded the themes Saturday 07 night). I didn 't even get to vote, since I'd made sure to install and play them all first. | 2002-09-09 14:31:18 | 6528
