| 6494 | Uplink | games | 6073 | Uplink... | Well, this is a really great concept. nothing to do with "real" hacking of course, og the excitement which also lives in movies like Hackers and Sneakers is there. There's also an exploring aspect in the game. You go places, unknown to you, while exposing yourself to getting caught. Only trouble is, once you've defeated mainframe systems, and you are well upgraded so you can enter and exist most systems with little risc, game seems to slow down. Here a plot shifts in, pushing you to take even more risks, and the higher you go, the more you loose by getting caught.
Also, these new LAN systems, where you have to enter and move around subnets, also provide great replayability.

All in all, a great game, Demo is definatly worth trying, and the game is well worth paying for. It really isn't expensive for a game this quality :) No more expensive than a pizza and a rent-a-movie, but way more hours, and less fat ;) | 2002-09-04 12:20:25 | 0 |
| 6495 | Uplink | games | 6073 | Re: Cool game but ... | Why do you think no such soft. or hackers exist? I sure know a couple of guys getting both money and free phone this way.. and a bruteforce program certainly exist.. (though, current processor speeds allows it only to work slightly different mannor.. much more safe though...)
Main difference in Uplink vs. Real world is the system variety..lots of different login/password combinations exist.. webbased.. telnet.. ssh.. whatever.. makes it much harder to provide these universal tools.. (hooray for Micro$..., for providing hackers with real standard-, easytocrack-systems :) ) | 2002-09-04 12:27:56 | 6394 |

| 6498 | Kohan: IS - Special Awards Edition WineX | games | -1 | Re: Has anyone tried this? | Well I bought Ahriman's Gift and the Loki version of Kohan earlier. My impression is that the Winex game is tad bit slower than the native version from Loki. You can't drag the map with the middle mouse button anymore. (The underlying engine is nearly the same in KIS and KAG, so you may compare it with a grain of salt) However I bought the game mainly to play it with a friend in MP. He showed me the windows version and it exposes the same "problems" (no map dragging, slowness). The game however seems stable and at least for me is fun to play (no Windows / Linux interaction test yet, though) KoalaBR | 2002-09-05 04:44:27 | 6492 |

I have taken over another bot and now my health keeps decreasing -how do i untakeover it so my health stays stable, i only have 1 energy can and this decreasing health is annoying. Oh and im on levels 4 and 5 and on 4 (purple level) theres a lift but it dosent seem to work. Awsome game keep up the great work, 1 more thing: the levels underground should have a rock background instead of a space one for relistacness mabe ? | 2002-09-05 20:23:57 | 0 |
| 6502 | FreeDroid | games | -1 | Re: Me Need help | Keep taking over robots to increase your energy. All activities use up your energy, even if you're just sitting there doing nothing. Each time you take over a robot, its health is added to yours. So it's best to take over robots rather than shoot them. But make sure that you don't take over a weak robot by accident when you are inhabiting a powerful one. You will find it very hard to get back into a powerful robot again, and you will be weak until you do so. | 2002-09-06 04:20:26 | 6501 |
