LBreakout | games | -1 | SuSE 8.0 Fix | To get this excellent game to play under SuSE 8.0, as root ln -s libSDL-1.1.so.0 libSDL-1.2.so.0 in /usr/lib. Enjoy | 2002-09-01 10:50:16 | 0
Glaxium | games | -1 | Version 0.4b | Hello i'm Xavier Hosxe the author. No announce for this minor update but 0.4b should compile and install much better. Regards, Xavier | 2002-09-02 04:09:08 | 0
Kohan: IS - Special Awards Edition WineX | games | -1 | Has anyone tried this? | I am really curious as to how these "WineX ports" turned out. Has anyone tried them yet? | 2002-09-02 09:40:20 | 0
Uplink | games | -1 | Um... | The concept is cute (in that "Sneakers" homage kind of way), but the game emphasizes speed and purchased upgrades over just about anything else. <br><br> Also, the tutorial kept refusing to let me move forward even though I'd completed its requirements, which is really aggravating if it's the only way to learn the basics. <br><br> I'd pass this one by, especially since it's for money. | 2002-09-02 12:17:08 | 0
PLib | games | 5297 | Thank you. | I am still exploring the documentation and examples. Thanks for your work. | 2002-09-03 03:41:59 | 0
TuxKart | games | -1 | Re: Source | Huhhh... Why obfuscate instructions? Be straightforward: <pre> $ su - # cd /usr/local/src # wget http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net/dist/tuxkart-0.2.0.tar.gz # tar vxzf tuxkart-0.2.0.tar.gz # cd tuxkart-0.2.0 # ./configure # make # make install # logout $ tuxkart # :-)) </pre> If you don't care about security and login as root, just skip the first and eight steps. Also note this works well with a lot of other software, too ;-) | 2002-09-03 09:05:43 | 5197
Kohan: IS - Special Awards Edition WineX | games | -1 | Re: Has anyone tried this? | I tried Ahriman's Gift (I had already played the original Loki version of Kohan) and was fairly satisfied. It only seems to run fullscreen, and the start-up is flaky (I often have to start the game multiple times before it finally gets itself together). But once it's running, it seems to work fine. | 2002-09-03 14:48:16 | 6483
Sokoban 3D | games | -1 | Love it | The 3d mode doesn't add a lot, but you can turn it off, so no biggie. This is a solid, feature-rich Sokoban implementation, and a good starting point for anybody aching to do Wizardry clones in Java. | 2002-09-04 08:00:05 | 0
Kohan: IS - Special Awards Edition WineX | games | -1 | Re: Has anyone tried this? | What about resources? Does it seem to produce more CPU load than a real port, in your opinion? I'm just really skeptical of this WineX "porting" that Transgaming is doing. I am interested in the game though. | 2002-09-04 09:42:13 | 6490
Kohan: IS - Special Awards Edition WineX | games | 6390 | Kohan_sae | It runs very well (cel400,128MB,LinuxFromScratch-cvs,KDE3.0.3). It ran a little slower (same as cel666,128MB,Win2000) when I was running Mandrake 8.1 with WMaker. I have yet to play a network games so rating a little lower not knowing how well it works. So I may change the rating later. | 2002-09-04 10:21:55 | 0
