Crystal Space | games | 6354 | very good ! | Crystal Space is an excellent C++ game library, with a nice plugin organisation. It's much more than a graphic library, and simplify a lot programming with automatic level loading, 3d sprites management, and a lot more. OpenGL gives a very good rendering, and software mode allow to play at an acceptable speed on unaccelerated or unsupported 3d hardware. Continue this nice work (maybe with a little more networking code), and it will be THE library. I have tryed a lot of others (SDL,allegro,plib...) before learning about Crystal Space, and this one is a great choice. | 2002-08-26 10:55:17 | 0

xrot | games | 3 | Re: url no longer works | Yes, it's an abandoned project. You might want to try one of the <a href="http://ring.k-opti.com/pub/linux/Plamo/plamo/jg1/xrot.tgz">older tarballs</a>. | 2002-08-26 17:23:48 | 6430
Windstille | games | 4512 | Sounds promising... | ..well, from what we have to go on so far ;) FWIW, I really liked Turrican on my old Spectrum, I thought it was great. For that matter, there was something about the style of graphics in some of the later Spectrum games that still appeals to me- somehow the limitations seemed to get something special from some artists.<BR> [shrug]<BR> Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing something from this, and hope it isn't doomed to be just vapourware like some projects end up. | 2002-08-26 18:08:02 | 0
Freespace 2 | games | -1 | joystick problems? | I had problems getting my joystick to work, turns out the really badly written SDL lib was at fault. So I re-wrote the joy-unix.cpp code to use the linux input interface for joysticks (ie, the RIGHT way). works pretty good. If you're interested, just email me at verin@lvcm.com, and I'll send it to you. | 2002-08-26 20:34:12 | 0
GXMame | games | -1 | I've been looking for this. | This looks like a great UI for XMame. Though I prefer QT, as a KDE 3 user, this looks very nice. I'll have to give it a shot. As a former Windows user, this give me the MAME32 interface that I am used to. | 2002-08-27 07:43:30 | 0
Neverwinter Nights Dedicated Server | games | -1 | Re: iirc | I was going to buy this game when they released the Linux client, but I am beginning to really lose interest. The game is sluggish, even on great hardware. Nobody seems to know why, as the game isn't exceptionally breathtaking graphically. It is full of all sorts of bugs and problems. I'm really ot sure that it is worth it now. As time guys by, waiting for the game makes it less appealing. It is nice that they are making a Linux client, but it is ironic that all of these guys have no problems writing server software, yet sleep on the client work. I'm sick of people thinking of Linux as only a server OS. | 2002-08-27 07:49:08 | 6137
Freespace 2 | games | -1 | Re: joystick problems? | Why don't you submit your patch to the SDL guys, instead of writing comments like these | 2002-08-27 09:24:23 | 6435
Penguin Command | games | -1 | Great flash-back game! Easy to customise | I really like the functionality and the ability to use all 3 buttons of my mouse to fire from all 3 cannons. I also like that I was able to customise the graphics (I changed the cities to Igloos and the guns to Penguins) | 2002-08-27 16:30:11 | 0
