5857 2 2005-09-21 08:01:02 Category: simulation
Description: Oolite is an open ended game, based around travelling from star system to star system as a lone wolf trader or bounty hunter or pirate or ...any role the player chooses; there is no set goal apart from perhaps to gain the coveted Elite combat rating. Whatever the player chooses, danger lurks - the Police may come to your aid, but with the size of space, they may take their time. Or if the player is less than legally clean, the Police might only be coming to finish them off...
There are several missions, and the game is expandable and many expansion packs and mods are available.
The game is an independent interpretation and re-creation of the classic game, Elite. Oolite was originally written for Mac OSX in Objective-C using Cocoa, and has been ported to Linux using GNUstep and SDL. The game is still under active development on both Mac OSX and Linux. Lots of bugs have been fixed and several more languages have reached 100% in the official core packages.
As it was announced, only languages for which the core packages are translated up to 100% will be included in 1.0. Languages not-yet-included which reach 100% core-completion can still be included in the final 1.0 if more RC versions are required. Otherwise, they will be included in 1.0.x versions after 1.0. As you see, you still can get your language in, so keep (or start) helping with your translation.
In addition, The Dark Hordes campaign has been removed from the official tarball, and it's now available on the campaign server. You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.
Battle for Wesnoth 1.0rc1 updated Battle for Wesnoth
