6301 OpenGL Racing Game games -1 Re: doesn't compile, package problem? go into the Makefile and add -L/usr/X11R6/lib to the line:
$(CC) main.o timing.o ...
actually it appears to be broken up into a few lines, so you could put that after the `sdl-config --libs` and it should work fine (unless libGLU.so isn't in /usr/X11R6/lib, in which case just put the appropriate directory instead) 2002-08-15 00:06:47 6003
6302 OpenGL Racing Game games -1 Re: doesn't compile, package problem? maybe replacing -lGLU with /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.so ? :)
close, you want to add -L/usr/X11R6/lib in that line somewhere (yours might work too, not sure) 2002-08-15 00:12:50 6009
6303 LGeneral games -1 Nice game - pretty hard AI though
Hi. Great game - thanks.

HJowever, the AI is pretty hard to beat. That's both good and bad:

Good because it means I won't grow tired of it real soon

Bad because it's rather discouraging to loose some of the smaller scenarios over and over again.

So my comments/questions are these:

I would be nice to be able to set the AI skill level.

In the absense of that, it would be nice with some tips.

A previous poster had a similar question, but got the old RTFM - for your info: I did read the manual, I know the unit strengths and so on.

Basically I'm asking for some good 'Beginners-tips'. I've played strategy games (on a real board, agains a real human!) like Russian Campaign and Empire in Arms, so it's not that I don't get the basic premises - I'm just asking for a little strategiv advice (Calling the pentagon - damn, they won't take my call in the situation room).

I've never played Panzer General, so I have no idea how that works, if there are any hints in the manual or so.

Thank you for your help.
Christian
2002-08-15 08:04:31 0
6304 LGeneral games 4074 Re: Nice game - pretty hard AI though Dear Christian,
the AI will be restaurated as soon as I'm back from holidays in a few weeks. It has absolutely no strategic component at the moment but a good tactical one thus it will be able to crash you if it has superior strength but is too weak to get the best out of inferior troops (to delay your progress) so check the frontline for such constellations and use it for your advantage. Apart from that any PG hint page will help a lot with strategic advises as LGeneral is very similiar to Panzer General.

Michael Speck 2002-08-15 09:20:08 6303

6306 LGeneral games -1 Where is the PEM option? (a Spanish PG fan :-)) Great game! but I'd like playing PG by e-mail and lgeneral aren't multiplayer, isn't it? 2002-08-15 09:44:07 0
6307 LGeneral games -1 Re: Nice game - pretty hard AI though Well, the AI level is like "medium" in PG, i think. The Panzer General's faq and its readme.txt helps a lot (google). 2002-08-15 09:56:32 6303
