Description: Sharpen your swords and fire up the cauldrons--Soulblighter is back! Bungie's thrilling strategy adventure, Myth II: Soulblighter, brings back the scourge of the West and challenges you with all-new scenarios and improved graphics and 3D rendering.

In command of a ragtag army of beserkers, dwarves, soldiers and sorcerers, you are the last hope (yet again) of saving the folk of Madrigal and the West from the evil might of Soulblighter and his minions. Test your fortitiude by challenging others on your network or online to a battle to the death, or cross swords and sages with Soulblighter himself. For fantasy gamers, this is far better than a slab of roast beast washed down with a tall ale...

Thanks to the efforts of Loki, this awesome adventure is now available for Linux 2.x and glibc2. Now you can match the power of your sorcery with the power of your favorite operating system. Get it now...before it's too late.

Want to get in on the ground floor with a new Linux games company? I got this from Rael Mussel:

Altered Software is looking for a few talented Linux programmers to help out a new startup company based in Raleigh NC. This new company deals primarily on bringing new gaming titles to the Linux platform. For the initial production phase all work will be volunteer. However, those selected few will be offered co-founder positions which includes entitlement to stock options (if we IPO). To give some reassurance that for your hard work and effort you will be rewarded, we are currently in partnership with one major
gaming house and pursuing another aggressively. Initial projections expect high revenue, as we ramp up to make the commercial announcement into the market. (Date of announcement yet to be determined.) If you are interested
in getting in on the ground floor of a very new market please get in touch with me. degore@ipass.net

Please place in your subject, "CEO Rael Mussell - responding to Help Wanted ad at Game Tome."

I look forward to hearing from you.

All interested parties will be required to sign NDA prior to full disclosure regarding nature of business and commercial allies to protect all parties interested under contractual agreement.

It sounds like a kickass opportunity for the right person.

I found a couple of print articles worth mentioning in case you need a Linux game fix and you're away from the computer:

The September Linux Journal inaugurates a new column by Jason Kroll called Games Focus. Mr. Kroll talks about "classic" video games and then introduces us to Koules, a classic Linux game. It's great to see games getting a regular space in LJ!

And in the latest (September) PC Gamer, columnist Michael Luton continues his evaluation of Linux as a gaming platform. This month, he "gets his hands dirty" by typing "rpm -Uvh Glide*.rpm q3test*.rpm" on a pre-loaded Linux system. After playing a bit of Q3Test, Mr. Luton concludes "In and of itself, I believe Linux is a capable gaming platform."

It's time to spread around some Happypenguin love with another turnip hunt! In a futile, yet well-meant attempt to demonstrate the
breadth and depth of my undying, unconditional love for each and every one of you, I am going to lay a
brand spankin' new copy of Myth
II: Soulblighter on one of you. The good people at Loki Entertainment Software
(who also love you very, very much), will send you a free copy of this game for your very own if you are the lucky winner!

And...AND!!! three runners-up will win photos of my cat, Mandelbrot, sitting next to a Myth II box!!
This may actually be the better prize, as Mandelbrot is really, really cute.

Give me a chance to catch my breath. I'm hyperventilating.

Ok, here's the deal: the screenshot for one of the games in the Game Tome has been replaced with the turnip picture you see elsewhere on
this page. Find the turnip, click on it, and you can register for the drawing. Next week, on August 26, I'll pick four entries at random.
The first entry gets the Myth II game. The other three get cat pictures.

Woohoo! Can you feel the love? |
Win a copy of Myth II: Soulblighter! |

Description: The most important : its engine is very
different than others. Everytime
consistent, it enables you to do all
you want. It does not separate interface
and game, so, for example, you can
change the number of players WHILE
playing.
The possibility to change all the game
is given with the alliance of an
interpreted solution and a core
modification possibility with the
Addon technology. So, everybody can
change the game EASILY : the novice
with a simple text file, and the C++
programmer with a very powerful
technology : the Addon.

Second thing : the game is a
bomberman BUT DON'T BE AFRAID : it is
VERY different because very very speed,
very very fun, very very... Come to
discover and try it ! ... and change it
!!!
