| 5750 | PlaneShift | games | -1 | Re: Some additional info | It isn't free software or an opensource game as the content that makes the game is restricted. Mabe you should readress your licensing to CS as you seem not to understand the underlying concept that binds together this community of freedom. Greetings? | 2002-06-13 10:02:03 | 5745 |
| 5751 | 2577 | news | -1 | Re: Linux version likely a looong way of | And INFOGRAMES is supposed to be the #3 in electronic entertainment in the US??? Why rush sucha great product? The people behind NWN is so skilled, so with some more time they would have gotten a better proffit in the longer scope of time. Man, greed makes one wanna cry. | 2002-06-13 13:15:41 | 5733 |
| 5752 | 2577 | news | -1 | Re: Get a grip | There is no LSB distro out. May that be the case, or one of the obstacles? I would like.....REALLY like a NWN editor for linux. But borland, skilled as they are, didn't find the economics or the skill to get it out? Either way, I am happy to see Bioware's honest attempt to put out binaries for platforms other than Win32 | 2002-06-13 13:20:25 | 5727 |
| 5753 | 2577 | news | -1 | Re: Get a grip | One thing: The linux desktop will spin off first on the corporate level - if ever. THEN will there be a gaming base to build on. My belief solitarily. BiOWare: There wouldnt be for guys like those, trying to bend the law of (physics?) economics! I really like what they are trying to accomplish - True multi-platform gaming development. To make a game so ....constructed (?) must've been a hell of a ride! BioWare - I salute you! | 2002-06-13 13:27:13 | 5735 |

| 5755 | PlaneShift | games | 4512 | Re: Grumble... | Ahem, if that is so, then sorry, I stand corrected. I may well try downloading Crystal Space again to see how it is going...
...But the last time I did wasn't exceptionally long ago, and I seem to remember then, as on some other occasions, glaring at the terminal window as it failed due to some ridiculous C++ error. Yeah, I know C++ and COM are two very different things, but yes, I'm fairly hostile to C++ as well. "Proper" Linux projects use C! (Tongue loosely in cheek there, but you know that C just is more Linux friendly).
I should point out at this point that I have actually managed to use some versions of Crystal Space in the past.(I forget whether I compiled those or got binaries), I was rather taken with the speed and appearance, but the control in most of the demos (such as the walkthrough) just felt sort of wrong. Perhaps it's the lack of the "bobbing" effect you get in things like Quake when you walk around.
Anyways, I'll prolly not say more on CS as it is sort of off topic here! And I may well give the Planeshift game a go, see if I can compile that too (unless I find it's Java..) | 2002-06-13 17:58:10 | 5729 |
