| 5699 | 2563 | news | -1 | Why not support an existing project | Making such a program is a great task, so instead of trying to divert the attention of the developers it might be better to try to make TUXrpg within an existing project. Perhaps working together with the good people of arianne og worldforge. I do apreciate your efforts to make a game for the benefit of the rest of us, but looking at the games in this tome it seems that most of the (non tetris) games are only halfway finished, so it seems to me that your effort could be even more worthful if you worked with tools that have allredy been created. Having said this I a still looking forward to play your game, and I wish you the best of luck :) | 2002-06-11 02:57:05 | 0 |

| 5702 | PlaneShift | games | -1 | Re: Grumble... | I agree that lots of fancy Flash animations and a super-slick website can damage the credibility of a project that's still in its infancy. One looks at all the over-promotion and wonders "why are they devoting all this effort to hype instead of to their project's development?" Case in point: Does anyone remember <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/timecity/">Time City</a>? Their propaganda machine was excellent-- fancy website, regular high-profile articles at Slashdot about the project, booths at Linux conventions... unfortunately, they never released a line of code and quietly faded into obscurity. Honestly, Time City came right to mind as soon as the Flash movies started playing at the Planescape site. To their credit, though, they've released code, so they're already a step ahead of that other project. <p> Now that I've exhausted myself spewing about first impressions, I think I'll go actually check out the software. :) | 2002-06-11 06:38:21 | 5696 |
