517 2 1999-07-26 11:08:20 Sometime soon, everyone's favorite software company, Loki, will unveil their new website. I got a sneak preview of the new design over the weekend, and I must say it's a whole lot nicer looking than the previous one, which... well... it was apparent that the Loki staff was spending all their efforts on coding rather than website design. The new site will more properly reflect the level of quality these people represent. New Loki website soon default

519 2 1999-07-26 14:17:05 I received the following email this morning. As my loins have borne no fruit, I thought I'd pass this question on to you, my beloved readership. Surely some of you have adolescent offspring who like to play games. What do you (or they) recommend for wholesome gaming goodness under Linux?
We are a German publishing house specialized on computer books (among them quite a few on Linux, e.g. Apache, KDE, GIMP and Samba). At the moment we are doing a book called Linux for Kids (Linux fuer Kids in German), which is aimed at children of 12 or older and at adults who want to learn Linux the easy way.
On the CD which will come with the book we want to put 1 or 2 games (among other things; there will be about 100-150 MB left for the game(s)). Of course they should not be cruel or bloody, and they should be stable too. Also, there should not be any requirements (of grafic card, libraries etc.), which are unusual or hard to fulfil. On the other hand, the games should look nice, as the simple games come with KDE already, which will be on the CD anyway.
I urge anyone with thoughts on this matter to email me. I'll forward all comments to Susanne, who wrote me. If there's interest, I'll also make them available to anyone else who wants them. Linux games for kids? default

521 -1 1999-07-27 09:16:46 Category: Arcade
Description: twinTRIS has been released to start learning the Xlib programming. It is a multiplayer game, using the same mode than X-blast (multipe windows on multiple displays but only one main process). It has been succesfully tested under both Solaris and Linux. It works under any resolution and screen depth. Some more features will be included later. Come back often, I'm on holidays. The background of the playing window is not yet available, because it's too long to load. So there is a purple block instead. twinTRIS 0.5 new

X doesn't seem to support this, help appreciated.
Added -geometry option, to specify the location where the xmame window appears.
Added -[no]linear to enable/disable linear framebuffer support with svgalib. It defaults to off since lfb is broken on some cards. This fixes the black screen problem some people where having.
Added a keymapping for the ^ key on german keyboards so that the on screen display works under X.
Reordered the output for -help so that it makes more sense.
Added a few accidently ondocumented options to -help
Fixed xgl, xfx, svgafx and openstep compile. Since I don't have openstep and / or an 3dfx over here this is untested.
Changed -scale, -widthscale & -heightscale so that they do the logical thing. Meaning that the last one parsed determines the scales used.
Added -vectorres >XresxYres<, this scales vectorgames to XresxYres, keeping their aspect ratio. This overrides the scale options.
Xmame 0.36b1.2 updated
