It is currently available for Linux/i386 and Windows, but since it uses SDL/OpenGL it should be portable to other operating systems or platforms. (If anyone whishes to port it, please contact us.) This game is planned as tactical simulation and will be as realistic as our time and knowledge of physics allows. | 5128 | 6457 | 2004-12-21 03:22:35 | In latest poll we asked: "What kind of completly new Open Source game would you like to see here on Game Tome most?"
More than 1350 people voted in that poll! This is a true voice of Linux Gaming Community! Big thanks!

19% of people voted for Action RPG, 6% of people voted for Non Action RPG. What does it mean? If you want to create new Open Source game - consider making RPG, looks like it's fav genre of Linux Gaming Community! This is also reason for our current poll - about RPG games.
16% of the responders voted for RTS. We all know that not many quality RTSes for Linux are available.
12% of people voted for Adventure! This is awesome news for people who want to create games, but can't find experienced coders. I believe that you can write playable adventure game without advanced code, but you need good plot and some art.
7% of people voted for First Person Shooter, 4% of people voted for First Person Game - not typical shooter and 3% of people voted for Third Person Game. Less than 14% for action games? But we know how many FPSes are available for Linux... And you can even play HL2 in WineX ;)
6% of the responders voted for racing game, 3% voted for team sport game and 2% voted for flight simulator. If you want to simulate something - try to focus on cars :)
5% of people voted for Turn Based Strategy. I am big fan of real strategies. Think about creating such game, I know that it's not trivial, but from another point of view - you don't need a lot of art and you can take 5% of market!
Only 2% of people voted for logic game and only 1% voted for arcade! Maybe because there is a lot of such games on Game Tome?
3% of the responders want something new and unique. But we still don't know what exactly :)
Do you want to create new Open Source game? Analyze these results yourself. And don't wait for tomorrow, start planning today! | Game Tome Poll Results | default | |

Gameplay is free-form, there is a plotline but you can choose to ignore plot missions for as long as you want. Random mission generators give you plenty to keep you occupied if you just want to do your own thing. This is a pretty faithful remake of Privateer using the VegaStrike space sim framework, but with OpenGL graphics, new missions, more fixers, and the ablility to extend the game and add more content. The Privateer Remake crew is currently looking for some Linux users to test out their game. | Privateer Remake Beta 0.9d | new | Privateer Remake |
