FreeCraft | games | 1383 | Re: FreeCraft | It is now called FcMP (FreeCraft Media Project). But don't expect too much. Any help to produce better graphic/sound/music is welcome. | 2002-04-17 16:45:08 | 5093
malom | games | 21 | Bad Code :-) | Well there are several reasons the coding style is deplorable. (at least for now) Mostly it's because I made malom intially on a long night with too much caffiene. :) I've made the initial SDL port, and am working on cleaning up the code a lot. I've just taken my first C++ recently, and previously been a C programmer for quite sometime. So I'm still prone to use C style stuff instead of C++. Give me a while, the cruft should clear out. :) | 2002-04-17 17:18:01 | 0
Emilia Pinball | games | 3722 | Great! | I really love pinball games, but on Linux I haven't found any worth playing, but this one looks like it could end up being fantastic. Keep up the good work, I look foward to this game going beta, and then stable (and hopefully getting faster). | 2002-04-17 22:36:15 | 0
malom | games | -1 | Re: Bad Code :-) | Heheh, I didn't say it was deplorable at all (except for main(), which is just too large, and that's only inconvenient to readers). It just isn't the patented "C++ way" :) Hopefully you'll resubmit an SDL version so I can try the game out. | 2002-04-18 00:12:28 | 5283
Heretic II | games | 858 | Works fine with a GeForce2 MX400 !! | I try it on a GeForce2 MX400 card and he works perfectly !! thanks to loki ;) | 2002-04-18 04:51:22 | 0
Tribes 2 | games | 3231 | Tribes 2 for Linux - excellent game | I've been playing Tribes 2 on Debian / Sid for more than a year, and I very much enjoy this game. I like the variety of play styles available: first-person shooter, vehicle combat, and real time strategy in the Command Console. The varieties of play are well balanced, with no one type totally overpowering any other. It takes advantage of my SMP system, it plays well nvidia binary drivers, and it has an excellent community. The downsides stem from the sudden dispersal of the Dynamix studio and the troubles with Loki during development of the final patch for Tribes 2. The community side of Tribes2 is almost entirely unavailable unless you're willing to go through the effort of downgrading your patchlevel every time you want to use the tribe/warrior browser or read the news and forums. This make the game fun to play, but frustratingly buggy, with zero likelihood of improvement. <br><br> summary: worth having if you can get it cheaply. | 2002-04-18 04:59:02 | 0
Crack Attack! | games | 3231 | Highly Addictive - Much Fun | pros: great fun, very addictive, open source! <br> <br> cons: keys aren't configurable, no music or sound. <br> <br> If you haven't tried it, you should. be prepared to spend lots of time trying to beat 1000 points. | 2002-04-18 05:05:15 | 0
Abuse-SDL | games | 3722 | An oldie but a goodie! | The last time I tried this game was on Debian a few years back and it was great back then, but I could only play the shareware levels. Now that you can download the full version I decided to take another look at it, its great well worthy of 5 stars.<br> | 2002-04-18 06:21:46 | 0
Simutrans | games | -1 | Looks nice, not free software... | ...so I will waste my time with some other game. | 2002-04-18 09:06:37 | 0
Frozen Bubble | games | 2642 | Just plain awesome | I used to play <A HREF="http://www.snood.com/">Snood</A> in a Mac emulator for this style of game on Linux, but now I don't have to - Frozen Bubble is very similar, and a lot better. It has great graphics, great sound and music, and a lot of character (thanks to the cute little penguin). This is a great example of how good an open source game can really be. | 2002-04-18 16:21:01 | 0
