5079 BillardGL games 5774 Re: 5 Bug Sorry, I can't reproduce this bug - even if I "swing" for a couple of minutes, the shot proceeds totally normal. Can you give me more information about the effect you noticed?
Cya Tobias Nopper [Author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 03:30:13 5068
5080 BillardGL games 5774 English Manual I'm sorry there's no english manual yet, but I can tell you we're working hard on it, we even have someone now just to translate the web page, which will be included completely in the next release. The README is a relict from stone age (more or less) and is thought for us developers, and because we're all germans... ;)

But if you have any questions about playing the game, feel free to post them here or to write a E-Mail, we will try to help you ;)

Tobias Nopper [author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 03:38:13 0
5081 BillardGL games 5774 Re: feels strange Questionable physics. The way the balls bounce seems very artificial. It feels like they don't lose any energy when they bounce.
The ball's energy goes down to 80% when they bounce. This is actually less then reality. The problem lies in the missing phyical simulation of the ball's rotation.

I have seen balls suddenly stop against the edge of the table instead of bouncing off. This is most noticable around the pockets.
We do have a hole problem, I agree (bounce-bounce-bounce...). But the borders should act correctly. When we were playing billard two days ago (in reality), I noticed several balls acting as you described.

The game sometimes shoots the ball before the power meter is where I want it to be.
This can happen if you hit another mouse button or keyboard key while "swinging", like the middle mouse butten and the space bar.

Tobias Nopper [author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 03:49:33 5070
5082 BillardGL games 5774 Re: You wait ages for a decent pool game Hm. My guess is there's something about glut... Or maybe you should try lower settings:
BillardGL -t 8 -at 8 -tt 0 -g 3
Tobias Nopper [Author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 04:39:03 5076
5083 BillardGL games 5774 Re: feels strange You can change the parameters of physic, if you want. The parameter of friction can be altered by -r, collision by -k and borders by -b. Example:
BillardGL -r 1.2 -k 0.95 -b 0.4
are the default values, but
BillardGL -r 0.5 -k 1.1 -b 1.1
does strange things. If you find better values than the ones we chose, please post them ;)
Tobias Nopper [Author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 04:48:16 5070

5087 Exult games 5676 Exult: 1st Class Excellent piece of work. Ultima 7 is a beautiful game and playing it under Linux is equally as beautiful :-) 2002-03-17 09:39:48 0
5088 BillardGL games -1 Different control method This is probably asking a lot, but I'll see how I go... can the power bar be implemented as a real cue, that you move backwards and forwards with the mouse. Getting cue ball spin going too would be good, it's all described at http://www.playpool.com/apapp/download.php And I want to jump balls too :-) 2002-03-17 12:53:42 0

I will give it to our master of the physics. But I think we'll have to discuss about jump shots ;)
Tobias Nopper [Author of BillardGL] 2002-03-17 16:18:58 5088
