| 5011 | FooBillard | games | -1 | Pretty neat. | Graphically, this is quite nice - but the controls are not very obvious or intuitive. One glaringly bad thing is that you can see the AI player move his cue *through* the other balls when there is a tight pack of them around the cue ball. That's important because he ends up having a wider range of possible shots than he should. Still, this is looking like a *great* project - and it's clearly going to get much better as time goes on. | 2002-03-11 02:27:08 | 0 |
| 5012 | Parsec Demo | games | -1 | Re: 197 is not a new release | I was reading on a forum a couple days ago that someone said Parsec is no2 a dead project. The developers have full-time jobs and don't even see eachother on a regular basis anymore. Parsec hasn't been worked on consistantly since Sept 2001. After that it was some work here and there, which is why it has trickled off to nothing since November (approx). I wish I could find that forum again. The person that said it claimed to know one of the developers in real life. Again, it could all be bunk. Hopefully not. I've played all the demo's they've released and they all looked very nice (even when I had a voodoo 1). | 2002-03-11 12:48:29 | 4963 |
| 5013 | Parsec Demo | games | -1 | Re: 197 is not a new release | Pity that they keep it locked down.
30. Why are you offering it for free?
Basically, Parsec has always been planned to be a project for fun and educational purposes. So the decision to release it as freeware was actually quite an easy one.
and:
33. Will Parsec be open-source?
No. We're strong believers in a coordinated development effort for computer games which we don't think works with a large number of people involved.
Thank ESR for convincing people that free software means "give the world write access to your CVS tree".
Oh well. Dead it is, I guess. RIP. Maybe Vegastrike will release another hugely improved version soon :)
Daniel | 2002-03-11 18:28:36 | 5012 |

| 5019 | Heretic | games | -1 | Re: Heretic | Well, I agree with you. Heretic is an awsome game, even though it's old it still is one off those Good 1st person shooters that are made by Raven software, like Hexen! | 2002-03-12 16:00:45 | 1432 |
| 5020 | Hack and Slash Action RPG | games | -1 | Windows only? | I can't figure out this one. The "Zipped version for all operating systems" contains only Windows EXEs and batch files.
While the web page mentions source, there isn't a direct link to it. Here it is;

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hack-and-slash

I'm grabbing the interesting files and will post a note here if I can make sense of it. | 2002-03-12 16:52:52 | 0 |

| 5024 | glTron | games | -1 | gltron artpacks | I know I'm a little late, but I just downloaded this wonderful game. I've been waiting for a good version of the lightcycle game since TRON first came out. Hurray! I have made a few artpacks if anyone wants to check them out. I don't have anywhere to put them right now, so you'll just have to email me: djvision@juno.com | 2002-03-13 00:10:01 | 0 |
