Description: The Atari 2600 Video Computer System (VCS), introduced in 1977, was the most popular home video game system of the early 1980's. Now you can
enjoy all of your favorite Atari 2600 games on your PC thanks to Stella!
Stella is a freely distributed multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator originally developed for Linux by Bradford W. Mott. Since its original release
several people have joined the development team to port Stella to other operating systems such as AcornOS, AmigaOS, DOS, FressBSD, IRIX, Linux,
OS/2, MacOS, OpenStep, Unix, and Windows. The development team is working hard to perfect the emulator and we hope you enjoy our effort.

I saw on Freshmeat that Creative Labs has released a new SBLive driver for Linux. This version is OSS compatible and won't run on SMP systems. |

Some pretty stinkin' cool news just came my way: Loki Entertainment Software is teaming with Terra Soft Solutions to bring Loki's Linux game ports to Linux PPC.
Dig it:

Loveland, CO - July 14, 1999 -
Terra Soft Solutions and Loki Entertainment Software announce a strategic alliance to bring best-selling PC games to Linux on PowerPC computers -- in some cases before those same games are available for the MacOS.

While we're on the subject of Loki, let me remind you not to miss the August Linux Journal, which features an action-packed 7 page interview with Loki's Scott Draeker and Sam Latinga, a review of Civ:CTP, an overview of Linux gaming (which mentions Happypenguin.org and our pals Linuxgames.com), and lots of pictures of naked people! Ok, no naked people, but there are some nice clothed photos of Scott & Sam. Hey Scott, can I have one of those stylin' Loki shirts that you're wearing?

Description: Xatrix has displayed extraordinary coolness by following their release of the Kingpin Dedicated Server with this, a full client release. Says Ryan "Ridah" Feltrin of Xatrix entertainment:

A full Linux client port of Kingpin is now available.

I have not tested this extensively, so please don't treat this as a full-blown release. If there are major bugs, I'd like to hear about it. I will try and fix any problems in what little time I have outside normal work.

I am very much behind the linux cause. Although for many it can be a love-hate relationship at times, when it does work, it's a dream to use. I've only been using it now for about a week, in which time I've developed a strong desire to see this platform succeed. Thus, I have devoted a lot of effort towards getting this client working.

At this time, it is limited to Linux glibc, and REQUIRES A 3D ACCELERATOR, which is compatible with Linux (most 3DFX and TNT/2 cards).

Please sure to read the README file before attempting to contact me.

Ridah walks the walk, baby! Go Ridah!

I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but since it's based on the Quake 2 engine, I presume a lot of the same troubleshooting tips apply. Check out the Linux Quake HOWTO if you run into trouble. First spotted this at Linuxgames.com.
