2271 | news | 5373 | Nifty! | I've no doubt this new change will only further entrench this site as one of my top favs on the internet. =) I think the idea of starting forums is an excellent one as well. I also agree with the person a few comments above who stated that a low number of forums to start out with would be a good idea. It's less daunting for the newbie, and too many might spread the participation a little too thin intially when there aren't a lot of people using it. (Hopefully that won't last long though =) What new forums should be added would be a good general topic of conversation anyhow. | 2002-01-30 11:46:13 | 0
Adonthell | games | 4567 | Waste's Edge's out! | Adonthell 0.3 came out just recently, with an actual playable demo game, Waste's Edge. Lovely detective story, and I was sorry to eventually find things unraveling and the story nearing a neat end-wrap-up... Alas, it is in the nature of demos to not take many nights to look through. ;) I had some trouble getting the game music to work on my Mandrake 8.1 box though, failing to provide some things configure wanted for it, so I just ended up stuffing the .ogg files on my XMMS playlist. The user interface in Waste's Edge was simple, although the additional use of Page Up and Down for scrolling texts more controlledly than with the arrow keys I only found out by actually reading some docs (conveniently named PLAYING). ;) All in all worth trying out, I say! | 2002-01-30 12:05:54 | 0
AGIL | games | -1 | Re: AGIL | It's not a game of its own, it's just an engine that enables you to play some of the great old classic Sierra adventures in Linux. Just enter "leisure suit larry", "space quest" or "police quest" into a search engine of your choice and you're gonna find loads of screenshots. | 2002-01-30 15:52:16 | 4545

2281 | news | -1 | <cheers> | It's a relief to know I'm not the only person who believes in (somewhat) proper english in text! If I may be so bold to add... "U" "4" "2" "ppl" etc... are NOT words! Don't put them on your resume as if they were! Thanks for the rant space :) | 2002-02-01 11:52:12 | 0

2281 | news | -1 | More Grammar | Let's not forget about the apparent confusion surrounding the correct usage of "there" "their" and "they're". Some people believe that these words can be used interchangeably. When I see a post to the effect of "There a buncha dumasses!' I don't stop to wonder who in fact the real dumbasses are. I just deduct 100 IQ points. | 2002-02-01 13:02:44 | 0
