| 4642 | SpaceTripper | games | -1 | "Just one more game" | I don't usually go for arcade shoot-em-ups, but this one is so pretty and the gameplay so engaging that I'm up 2 hours past my bedtime already. | 2002-01-29 21:13:57 | 0 |

| 4644 | Kamband | games | -1 | Cool | I'm sort of a roguelike-games fanatic, and this is one of the more original ones I've seen. The game mechanics take a bit of getting used to if you usually play, say, Nethack, but all in all Kamband is a great game. | 2002-01-29 21:27:38 | 0 |

| 4647 | Chromium B.S.U. | games | 2328 | A couple of ideas | I'd like to revise my previous comment about what this game would (IMFFHO :)) benefit from. First of all, scratch the "automatic level advance": this is already in there. What the game could use, however, is 1) a bit more variety in enemies, especially bosses; 2) weapons selection, so you can choose to fire just one of the powerups in your arsenal, as well as all at once (thus being able to, say, save the blue weapon for the heavy hitters); and most importantly: 3) AUTOCONF! I don't think I'd be out of turn in saying that autoconf, in a modern free software project, is pretty close to mandatory. It would solve so many problems, such as finding the libraries needed for building the Qt front-end without hassle, and it would allow the program to be installed systemwide. Plus, its ability to adapt to oddities in system layout is invaluable. I hope that these comments are useful, or at least inflammatory. :-) | 2002-01-29 23:55:37 | 0 |
| 4649 | AGIL | games | -1 | Re: AGIL | The sound code released in AGIL is emulating the sound as it happened on the original PCjr, not a standard PC speaker. There is another sound driver included (sound.c.rad) replace sound.c with this file, and the sound is very much like Sarien. That sound driver is based on Claudio's agiplay sound code, and he also write the OSS sound driver for Sarien. I unfortunately only have linux boxen to work with. The SDL driver was only written for a windoze port. Does the X11 driver on work with Solaris? If not I bet it's the sound code. | 2002-01-30 02:56:01 | 4550 |
