| 4617 | Marathon: Aleph One | games | 5225 | Marathon: Aleph One | AlephOne/SDL is an awesome game! It brings back Marathon2/Marathon Infinity using the cross-platform SDL libraries to today's Unix workstations! I've been able to compiled AlephOne/SDL 0.11.1 with NO opengl, nor network support on my Solaris UltraSparc box, and the graphics R smooth (just like when the games came out for the MacOS in the mid-90s), and the sound support is excellent! There R many settings to tweak to get the best experience, like screen size, graphics quality, key bindings, sound channels, volume, etc, etc! This game engine has given me a good reason to get my ole Mac Marathon2 CD, and extract the DATA files needed per the instructions included with the source code...! Marathon2 was good game with a great story, and now on today's workstations, it's even better!!! =) Cheers! Georgie http:/come.to/georgie | 2002-01-28 01:45:47 | 0 |
| 4618 | Dominions | games | -1 | Dominions | My dear Risc, everyone who uses Linux consider it beeing free OS, and the GPL states that it is free to copy, study, modify and redistribute. It actually isn't wrong if you download ISO's and use it for free. Most of the people using Linux don't have much money, that's usually the reason people choose Linux over Commercial programs. So I'd say you are way off when you critisize people of choosing to not to pay for free software. No reason to get mad I say. Not all of the contributors get paid when you buy a boxed set of Linux so you shouldn't argue here. And if there were sources (if the product were GPL'd) the ones who get the sources could contribute fixes and new things to the game.. Now it isn't possible for this article atleast. - JL - | 2002-01-28 04:25:04 | 0 |

| 4620 | Dominions | games | -1 | Dominions | - JL - it's people like you that have put Loki out of business. People have the right to sell software if they want to, they can keep the source if they want to. You can choose not to buy it. | 2002-01-28 16:49:30 | 0 |
| 4621 | Dominions | games | -1 | Dominions | Also this game is commercial - it isn't released under the GPL - what are you talking about? | 2002-01-28 16:51:38 | 0 |
