TTYQuake games 976 TTYQuake This is quite possibly the coolest toy I have ever played with. There's just something about it that still has me grinning every time it's mentioned, and I've known about it for months. :) 1999-04-26 22:23:32 0
NetHack games 1002 NetHack As the Debian Linux maintainer of the Nethack package, I have to agree that it's by far the best game ever made for any platform. It's even spawned commercial games such as Diablo, and will live on forever, inspiring geeks for time everlasting. 1999-04-27 01:06:40 0
Crystal Space games 169 Crystal Space Damn nice. One of the few places where I call object orientation well-used. A bit buggy at the moment, but being actively developed. Took a few (easy) fixes to get it to compile under egcs, and I had to disable the asm patches... probably lost a fair bit of speed that way. Ah, well. 1999-04-27 01:12:40 0
NetHack games 1182 NetHack How can NetHack be given any less? It is... THE game for any platform. Others only wish they could be NetHack, but they cannot, for there can be only one. 1999-04-27 19:55:12 0

State of Mind games 1181 State of Mind Great graphics, nice music, crappy data file:) I really wanted the MP3, took a peek at the dat and I wrote a crappy _pascal_ program to extract all the graphics and the MP3. This is by far one of the best demo's I've ever seen in a looooooooong while. 1999-04-28 11:16:20 0
Freeciv games 1268 Freeciv Even though I suck at it, It's still excellent. And it compiles on Solaris/x86 no problem -- cross-Unix compatibility is a big bonus :-) :-) 1999-04-28 13:12:11 0
XPilot games 1268 XPilot Another _excellent_ time waster, and very challenging to boot. I've spent already countless hours just trying to kill a single robot when they have shields. Of course they somehow manage to get a shot in and kill me while I'm shooting... :( Of course, playing on no-shields servers I can actually get a decent score. Too bad I don't see human players too often... One nitpick: The default server settings kind of suck (how come with shields up you can barely touch a wall head-first and still blow up???) And, by the way, the graphics do NOT look like they were developed for the Atari 2600. If they were, everything would be blocky. Instead, it looks almost like a vector-grapics game, which makes it cool. 1999-04-28 13:20:57 0
