Starship Traders games 5367 Starship Traders I almost didn't try this one since having only 2 megs of vram on my Diamond Stealth 3D usually destroys all playability of 3D games on my machine. I'm glad I tried it anyway. Starship Traders is a telnet-based game reminiscent of the old BBS game Tradewars. Using telnet or even the web interface, this would be a very addicting game, however I found the 3D client added an emersiveness factor difficult to get on many telnet-based games. That said, I have to add that in a way, this client is little more than a fancy telnet frontend. If you're wondering why I nonetheless gave it five stars, I'll be happy to bring up a few of the points that made me do so. 1. As I mentioned before, the game itself even without the client is very addicting and fun. You are a starship captain who makes a living trading resources to ports from planets and other ports. If you find an abandoned planet, you can put a bunker there where you may store resources, money, fighters and even yourself when you log off (can be very convenient since you can be killed if caught "sleeping"). You can also build starbases to protect sectors you put a claim to. There are upgrades you can add to your ship if you find a trading post, but other than that, there isn't a lot you have to worry about as far as your ship goes. You might find this limiting or freeing, depending on how in-depth you'd wish it to be. Another interesting feature is the ability to form or join teams of starships with other people. Your movement in the game is limited to how much antimatter you have, which tends to get used up pretty quickly but builds back up while you're offline. 2. For a 3D client, it's pretty fast. It seems to go only as slow as the telnet connection itself, which even on my modem connection is pretty good. I downloaded the binary, as well, so maybe if you compile the source code you'll find it even better. 3. It's a lot easier than the pure telnet version. While I haven't experimented much with the web interface, the 3D client gives you a lot easier access to, for instance, adjacent sectors since it's much easier to click on one than type out "397582". But don't toss that keyboard yet, it's still very necessary to play the game with. It's just a lot simpler with some shortcuts. 4. It's pretty. Very pretty. I don't know if I need to say more. p.s. I have one suggestion - don't sell your antimatter. I saw that option at a trading post when I first started playing and thought I was buying some (which you can also do). It didn't turn out too well. 2001-11-03 21:32:54 0

0verkill games -1 0verkill Es maravilloso. Resulta increible lo que se puede hacer sin una interfaz gráfica y la jugabilidad que este juego posee. 2001-11-04 14:09:10 0
NetHack Falcon's Eye games 3722 NetHack Falcon's Eye NetHack is the best RPG I have played on *nix, and NetHack Falcon's Eye makes it even better. It took a while to install, but it wasn't hard. I just had to RTFM (or docs in this case). If you like NetHack you will love this version. Definetly a worth edition to any *nix gamers collection. This is one of the most professional open source games period! Download it now! 2001-11-05 05:03:10 0
CXHextris games 3722 CXHextris I personally don't like it (I can't play it ;-}) but I give it five stars because it got my girl friend addicted to Linux. Weldone! 2001-11-05 05:17:03 0
Simutrans games 5373 Simutrans Very well done, quite a fun program. Very much professional quality, with an intellegent goal. Has a lot of potential too for more neat stuff, and I look forward to updates. Documentation could be a little more comprehensive, but the docs that are there are well put together and quite adequate. 2001-11-05 07:04:06 0
