Sure enough, POWERMANGA might be "better" (and again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder), but GammaPatrol is cross-platform, and I was able to compile it with almost no tweaking, straight out from the "configure" script on my Sun box...! I'd need some heavy duty voodoo to compile POWERMANGA due to its dependency on Linux' Xfree X-server! It was a good choice to use SDL and thus have the game "cross-platform" friendlier... It gets at least **** (4 stars) because it's still a work in progress...! Can't wait until the full game is out! The graphics R pretty enough, and the sounds do the job...!
